Mod Squad Challenge - Masculine Birthday Card

Today's card will be entered in the Mod Squad Challenge this week.  The challenge is to make a masculine birthday card.  I made this one for Garrett, a young boy that was mauled by a dog and who lost his vision.  I saw the story on Face book and you can see it Here.
Garett's birthday is Feburary 29, and he is asking for it to be the best.  If you have time, please send a card.
Here is mine.

I simply die cut the Simon Says Die and water colored the balloons.  I added the blue foil border on the side.  The sentiment was curved, so easy to do with clear stamps.  Then added a few sequins.  I hope that Garrett will be very happy this birthday. For those of you that do not visit Face Book, here is his address.

Garrett Brown
61 West Vineyard Rd
Hayesville, NC 28904

Thanks for stopping in and I hope that you have time to make and mail a card for Garrett.

Inky Paws Challenge #28 - Love Theme

This month's challenge is a Theme Challenge!
create a project that is all about Love!

One would think that I only stamp set that I have from Newton's Nook is the Birthday Bash!   That is not the case, I have many.  But this image is my favorite you see, and I have so much fun posing him with different things.  Once it was a beach ball, and he was bouncing down the beach.  I have used the balloon a lot of times as well.  This time, I did a little crafty designing and he is holding the cupcake.  SO MUCH FUN!
This is my entry for this months challenge, #28 Love Theme.
Along with the image from the Birthday Bash, I used the sentiment and cupcake from Love a la Carte.   Design papers from my stash and Copic markers. A heart shaped doily and Spellbinder petite scalloped oval die, sponged with Spun Sugar Distressed ink.

Big Football watching day today plus a few other things to get done.  This challenge is new and if there are more than 15 participants, there will be two winners.  You know what that means.  Get your craft on and create something!
Thanks so much for stopping by.......I much appreciate that you take time to leave a comment.

Double "D" challenge

Here is the inspiration photo for this challenge.  Brrrrr.... Hard to imagine the snow when you are in a warm sunny place.  Sorry, I didn't meant to rub it in, I have had lots of years of winters like this.  I can remember the fun that snow can bring.  I was drawn to the snowman.  After the beautiful scenes that show can bring, the snowman is the most fun.
Here is my card.
I embossed the white panel with a snowflake folder and used a sponge with Creative color ink in Winter.  I then embossed a piece of cellophane ( must lighter that acetate as I didn't have any) with an embossing folder.  I really liked the looks of it placed over the white snowflake panel.  You can see it better in the picture below.
The stamp set is from MFT and is called Trim the Branches Snowman. He is colored and fussy cut and placed on top.  The sentiment was stamped in Stazon black ink.
I think that I will be trying this again.  It looks like a quilt and has some possibilities.  I am not really liking this card, but I like the technique, so I thought I would share it.

I will be entering this in the new Double D challenge this week.
Thanks for stopping by.  I love your comments, if you care to leave one.

Matchbook Valentines and Love!

Make It Monday #237: Matchbook Valentines

I thought that I would try the matchbook valentines that Lexi showed in her video.  They can hold little gifts of candy as soon as I get some.  Lol Just click on the title above to see how she did it.  Here is my attempt.

I used the die called Enclosed Present  and cut it from dark blue foil.  Hard to see in the picture.  I did a plaid design with my Zig Clean color makers.  In Lexi's video, she used staples to hold the bottom flap down.  I do not have a stapler here.  We are renting this house and we have most of the comforts of home, but no stapler.  So, I had to improvise with the brads that you see on the bottom.

I am also entering the next project in the Mod Squad Challenge this week, Love is in the Air. My BFF Judy Woodland and a new buddy, Vicki Dutcher are the hosts this week.  Welcome Vicki!

Ok, I must confess.  I made this project for another challenge and realized that I did not use the required supplies.  So I decided to tell the truth and enter it in this challenge.   Donna, you know what I am talking
about.
Another matchbox valentine candy holder with brads.  The stamp and dies on this one are from Simon Says Stamps and are called Roses for You.  Colored with my Zigs.

I am making no excuses, as I only got 3 hours of sleep last night.  I am blaming it on the cappuccino that I had last night.   Hope that you all have a great day.  I will probably be taking a nap.  Lol

Thanks for stopping by!

Power and Spark Challenge at Power Poppy

Check out this challenge!  It says to Stretch yourself!  Make a project that is tall and do something that you have never done before.
Well, I set out to do just that.  I made a card that measures 3 3/4 by 6".  That part was easy.  Since I just bought and received my Zig clean water brushes, I decided that would be my new thing.  I usually like to water color with distressed markers or Kuretake paints.  So this is very new to me.  I think I need more practice and the colors are very vibrant.
I found that shading was harder that using the ones that I usually do.

Check out the challenge Power and Spark

                                       Here is my card.

         The recipe for this card:
            Strathmore water color paper
GKD card stock in Jelly Bean Green
Die-namics Four Way Chevron cover plate
Power Poppy stamps,  Short Stacks and Sage Advice
Zig Clean color markers and pearls from my stash.
                   Vellum for the sentiment.

I only partially cut the die, another new thing for me. The panel with the herbs is popped out with foam tape, as is the main image.  Finished the inside too!

Thanks for stopping in.  I love the comments and cherish each and everyone.

Make It Monday #236

This week for the Make It Monday Challenge we get to go A La Carte!  They have posted a review of all of the challenges in 2015 and you get to pick one that you liked, or maybe missed. You can check it out OUT!

There were so many to pick from.  Some I remembered very well and I was able to join in.  the one that I picked for my entry is Bring the Inside Out, by Danielle Flanders.
Here is my card.
I used my distress inks and my water color abilities to make this simple card.  I also used die cuts and stamp set from Papertreyink, called Scene it: Celebration.  I am going to used this set a lot.  I can sure see that.
This die was cut from Strathmore watercolor paper and then colored and adhered to the inside of the card.  I used the same die to cut the circle on the front of the card, thus letting the inside out!  A few stamped stars and a greeting on the inside and outside too.  Of Course, a little Wink of Stella on the stars.

Take a peek at the inside.
Thanks so much for stopping by.  I am so glad that I was able to bring my card making supplies with me this winter.  There is a lot to do in sunny Florida, but I still have time for my craft!  My best to you this week.

Oh, and please check out the MOD SQUAD CHALLENGE this week.  Leslie Turner and I are hosting and there are prizes.  Just sayin!

Mod Squad Challenge One Die Cut

I have re-potted myself for the winter in Sunny Florida.  After the busy holidays and travel time here, I have a new temporary craft space and I have made my first card for 2016.  My friend, Kathy Krug is the hostess for the Mod Squad Challenge this week.  She has some wonderful news and it is so well deserved.  Take a peek at her BLOG to see the news and how talented she is.  I have several of her cards and they are proudly displayed for all to see.
Kathy is keeping it simple, and has just asked that we use one die.  I have new stamps and dies, just calling to me, so here is what I whipped up in no time at all.
Here is what I used:
My Favorite Things stamp and matching die,  Adorable Elephants
MFT Steel Grey card stock  MFT Homespun Gingham 6 x 6 paper pack.
GKD white layering card stock.

Copic markers and Wink of Stella

This is just a simple and cute card made quickly as I get used to my work space.

Time is getting short, but this is still time to enter this fun and easy challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope I can spread some Sunshine your way.
