Here's one final card for fall, inspired by the Sparkle & Shine challenge going on now.

supplies: white cardstock, Memory Box Maple Wreath, markers to color, kraft ribbon, assorted sequins, Winnie & Walter Big, Bold Blessings sentiment, Hero Arts Butter to Orange Ombre and Pale Tomato inks

Here's our inspiration:

Lots of fussy cutting here........I was inspired by that wreath of leaves, adding a kraft ribbon to represent the corn stalks, and did an ombre stamping for the sentiment.

Sparkle & Shine challenge #17

I haven't played in the Sparkle & Shine challenge for awhile, but the jewel-tone colors of the inspiration photo got my juices flowing!

supplies: white, black, and watercolor cardstock, Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold & the Extras, markers to color, Simon's Painted Hello die, Winnie & Walter Audrey's Cutaways, assorted sequins

I wanted to bring in some more of the green, since it was prominently displayed in the inspiration, so I scribbled some of the green marker on an acrylic block, added water, and made a wash of it for my background.

Here's our inspiration:

Thanks for stopping by - hope you're off to a great week!

Happy Birthday, USA!!

Back in June, I was lucky enough to win a Paper Sweeties challenge, and as part of my prize, I get to Guest Design with the team this week!  Debbie couldn't have chosen a more appropriate inspiration photo for me, as, if you look closely, this flag is actually a quilt!

papersweeties-inspiration#33
Here's my take on it:

supplies: red and tan cardstock, My Favorite Things Die-Namics Quilt Square Cover-Up, red, blue and tan dps from various paper pads, Darice Quilt embossing folder, Simon's Happy Birthday die, Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold and the Happy sentiment, Paper Sweeties Apple Pie and Frosting flower sequins, Lil' Inker Stitched Stars die

I chose to use an antique tan color instead of pure white in my design, and I'm really pleased with the way my card turned out!  After I pieced and quilted my star, I wanted to add some more blue, so I die-cut a star for the center, and added some blue flower sequins.

Thanks for visiting, and be sure to visit the Paper Sweeties blog to see what the Design Team did with this inspiration, and then I hope you'll play along, too!  The challenge is open all month long, and the winner gets a fun shopping spree at the Paper Sweeties store!

I think this card will work for the current Sparkle & Shine challenge, too, so I'm entering it there.

A Sketch challenge at Sparkle & Shine

It's a dreary day here, but at least it's not broiling hot.  We have tickets to see a Drum Corps performance tonight - keeping our fingers crossed that the rains go away by then!

Ombre

I've seen a couple of challenges that ask for an ombre design, so I stamped some more of my Altenew Painted Flowers using Simon and Hero Arts shades of inks ranging from mint to pool, then fussy cut them and assembled them against an embossed woodgrain background.

supplies: Hero Arts pool layering papers, the light and medium shades for my card and embossed panel, Tim Holtz Alterations woodgrain embossing folder, Altenew Painted Flowers, many mint and pool/aqua shades of inks, Hero Arts Happy Stamp & Cut, with Winnie & Walter's Big Bold Happy "birthday" sentiment, embossed in white on black cardstock, Simon's moonshine sequins

I'd like to enter this into Virginia's View Ombre/Monochromatic challenge:

and also into the Sparkle & Shine challenge:

Thanks for stopping by!

Spring tulips

As soon as I saw the photo inspiration for the Sparkle and Shine Challenge this time, I knew just what I wanted to do.  It's been too long since I used this Friendship Jar and the lovely tulips that go into it, and I had been looking for pink polka dot paper recently, and so remembered this one.

Sparkle and Shine Challenge #2

There's a new challenge in town - Sparkle and Shine!  Their 2nd challenge is a sketch, and here's my first take on it:

supplies: pink dotted washi tape, Paper Smooches dots die, Simon's Best Mom Ever flowers, Lil Inker Spot On (sentiment), pinks and greens from Pretty Pink Posh Springtime Mix sequins, stitched rectangles

I used  a mix of washi tape and a dotty die to make my background, and had so much fun making it that I did a second version:

supplies: Freckled Fawn washi tape, Die-Namics Blueprints 20 zig-zag dot die,  red, white, and green cardstock, mint dot from Echo Park's Bundle of Joy Dots & Stripes pad, Wplus9 Folk Art Florals dies, Simon's Giving Thanks (sentiment), red sequins

This time I mixed a zig-zag die with my washi.  And I really enjoyed making this tiny little scene in the same colors.

Here's the sketch:

If I have time, I think I'd like to try it using all design papers..........

Thanks for stopping by!
