Simon Says...........A Bit o' Green

wed-newchallenge-header

Welcome to another challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

With a nod to the upcoming St. Patrick's Day, our theme this week is "A Bit o' Green", and the design team are using Taylored Expressions products; if you have any of their products, we'd love you to use them, too, but it isn't a requirement to enter.

I used a bit of green and a whole lot of green for my cards this week!

My first card features a Taylored Expressions cutting plate, to make a spring-feeling woodland card.  I mixed 3 distress inks for my background spring green.

supplies: white and Desert Storm cardstock, music dp, Taylored Expressions Birch Tree cutting plate, Avery Elle Kitsch Christmas (deer), Spectrum Aqua markers to color, DieNamics Snow Drifts die, mowed lawn, lucky clover, and twisted citron distress inks and water splatters, sentiment from Simon's Beautiful Ride

I cut my birch trees from music dp; I think this gives a more spring-like feel than stark white cardstock.  Then I sponged my 3 distress inks randomly onto a white cardstock panel and lightly spritzed it with water.  I sponged only mowed lawn onto a 2nd cardstock scrap, spritzed again, die-cut the top edge with a Snow Drifts die, and stamped my sentiment.  These 3 panels were then layered onto the card base.  My little fawns were stamped on a light kraft cardstock and colored with markers before fussy-cutting them and placing on the card.  I was tickled to use them because they were designed by our teamie Caryn!

For my 2nd card, I used a pretty TE bouquet cling stamp, and the leaves and sentiment are my "bit o' green":

supplies: Cornflower Blue and Green Apple cardstock, Bristol paper, Taylored Expressions Wildflower Bouquet, Zig watercolor markers and water to color, Spellbinder's Floral Oval die

Now it's your turn - I can't wait to see what you create!  Heidi has provided another $50.00 gift voucher

Simon Says........CUTE!

wed-newchallenge-header

Welcome to another challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!

Our theme this week is Cute, and it's a perfect match for the products made by Wild Rose Studio!

As a Mom of 2 boys, I fell in love with this adorable Teddy stamp, and colored it to make him a little boy..........

supplies: white, cornflower blue, and dark periwinkle cardstock, Bristol paper, a blue gingham dp from Authentique, Teddy with Flowers, colored with my new Zig markers and water,  an altered Stitched Tag, sentiment from Handwritten SentimentsBlueprints 20 banner

These Wild Rose stamps are so economical that I also chose this adorable "Owls on a Branch" stamp. I know it's mainly for Christmas, but I masked out the stockings and colored it so that it would work for winter, too.  And I sold my cute theme with the sentiment!  This will be going to our granddaughter - her school mascot is an owl, and I think she'll get a kick out of this!

supplies: white, surf blue, and green apple cardstock, Wild Rose Studio Owls on Branch, VersaFine Onyx Black ink, Spectrum Aqua markers to color, sentiment from Your Next Stamp Woodland Cuties,  Simon's Lots of Snowflakes, tumbled glass distress ink, Taylored Expressions Winter Flurry embossing folder, Simon's Stitched Rectangle and DieNamics Stitched Mini Scallop dies (adapted)

Now it's your turn - I can't wait to see what you create!  Heidi has provided another $50.00 gift voucher

Merry Kissmas!

Last year at about this time a group of friends got together and had a day of die-cutting, sharing our dies.  I put all of my cuts into a bag and never used them, but yesterday, I pulled that bag out and decided to put them to use.  Here's my card, hopefully not the last using these supplies:

supplies: white and green cardstock, dotty red dp, 2 leaf spray die-cuts (maybe PTI?), DieNamics Spring Wreath bow die, Simon's Stitched Rectangle die, sentiments from Simon's Presents and Ornaments and Big Holiday Wishes, Hero Arts poppy ink, white pearls

My sentiment is made from 2 different sentiments.  I love the look of a mixed font!  I'm entering this card into Virginia's View All About Textures challenge.

And a last minute entry for the Addicted to Stamps and More challenge:

Thanks for coming by - I'll see you tomorrow with my cards for the Simon Wednesday Challenge!

Sending Big Hugs

I love the photo inspiration this time over at the Share Joy Challenge.  Here's my card inspired by it:

supplies: white, oranges, and greens cardstock, Amuse orange dotted cardstock, DieNamics Scribble Roses Overlay dies, Essentials by Ellen leaves die from Bold Blossoms, Doodlebug sprinkles, Simon's Big Scripty Greetings,  Winnie & Walter's Audrey cutaways (scalloped rectangle)

Part of this challenge is to actually send out the card, so this one was made for a friend going through some rough times in her life.  Hopefully it will brighten her day just for a bit........

I think that sketch is pretty nifty, too, and I hope to be able to make another card using it.

And I'll be entering this into Virginia's View Texture challenge.

CASEing Kelly Blog Hop!

Hello!  I'm thrilled to be participating in this blog hop to honor Kelly Latevola!  Just about every Monday, in her CASEing Genius posts, Kelly chooses a fellow blogger, introduces her and her work to us, and then CASEs her guest's cards.  We decided to turn the tables on Kelly today and honor her with a blog hop.  We have all been former guests on her blog, (HERE was my spot) and we'll all be choosing 3 of her cards, and making a card CASEing ideas from them!  Fun, huh?

Our hop is a long one, so let's get started so you can move on.  You should have arrived from the fabulous Leigh Penner's blog.  If not I'll give you a listing of the stops along the way further down.  Here are the 3 cards of Kelly's that inspired me. (clicking on each pic will take you back to Kelly's original post, so that you can learn more about it):

When I think of Kelly's art, I think of bright colors and expert masking, and these cards illustrate that beautifully.  Since Fall is my favorite season, I decided to go with a variation of that theme from her first card.  I have nowhere near the coloring skills that Kelly does, so I chose a solid leaf stamp and colored inks to bring in my colors,  I stamped a whole panel of maple leaves, masking as I stamped, and then, inspired by her last card above, I die-cut a sentiment from that panel.

supplies: cream and dark chocolate cardstock, Clearly Besotted Autumn Flowers, stamped in Hero Arts Punch, and Ranger's Cheese Puff and Lemon Twist inks, Die-Namics Happy die, also cut from chocolate and off-set to define the words

Your next stop on our Hop is the amazing Linda Trace, but before you go, what's a hop without some fun prizes?

If you leave a comment by 11:59 PM, Thursday, October 29, along each stop, you'll be in the running to win a prize from one of our sponsors: TWO prizes (a $25.00 gift certificate and a crafty goodie bag) from a2z Scrapbooking, a gift certificate from Altenew, the Winter 2015 Card Kit from Create a Smile Stampsa stamp set from Dee's Artsy Impressions, one of Deepti's designs from STAMPlorationsa $25.00 gift certificate from any online store (winner's choice) from djkardkreations, a crafty goodie bag from Hero Arts, a $25.00 gift certificate from The Ink Road, a police woman digi stamp from Lia Stampz, and a $25.00 gift certificate from Simon Says Stamp!  Winners will be notified by email after October 29.

Okay, off you go!  Here is the entire Hop List, if you need it:

Simon Says..........Going Dotty!

This is my second post for today; if you'd like to see my Guest Design spot for the Paper Sweeties challenge, please scroll down a post, or click HERE.  Thanks!

wed-newchallenge-header
Happy July!  It's Wednesday, too, and that means a brand new challenge at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge blog!

This week our theme is "Going Dotty!"  Please add something with dots to your creation.  The design team are showcasing Art Impression products this week.  If you have any of their fun products, we'd love to see them, but they're not necessary to enter, as long as you follow our theme.

I had a fun time paper-piecing and playing with a large variety of dotted papers this week:

supplies: Art Impressions Wildly Cute stamp set, BoBunny Soft Shades and Very Vintage Double Dot Designs paper pads, My Favorite Things Die-Namics Chevron Stripes die

I chose this Zoo Baby called Wildly Cute precisely because giraffes have spots/dots.  Then I decided to paper-piece him and use as many dotted papers as I could.

My second card uses a small Easter stamp -  I stamped it on 3 different colors of BoBunny dotted paper, shaded them a bit with colored pencils, then cut out the little birds and arranged them around my large die-cut sentiment:

supplies: Art Impressions Easter Chicks stamp set, BoBunny Soft Shades papers, colored pencils for shading,  Lawn Fawn Let's Polka papers, Lawn Fawn Scripty Hugs die, Winnie & Walter Big Bold Friends ("sending" sentiment)

Now it's your turn!  Our sweet generous Heidi has yet again provided another $50.00 gift voucher
