Catch Up Post

This our class group picture at the 2013 QSC Retreat weekend. Not pictured is Anita Bowen our wonderful instructor. We had loads of fun!

Back to the mountains, my last day of fishing was a very good one.

The bottle is there for scale.

Yesterday Liz and I went to Gaffney Outlet stores for a day of shopping. We had to go back to the car numerous times to drop our bags.

The bathroom floor.... Looks like a quilt pattern to me.

Mountain update

I tried to post this yesterday via my IPhone and limited internet. All I got were errors...

Here is my catch from Sunday, 5 beautiful rainbow trout. Fishing has been hard this year. To top it all off, I fell in and got water in my waders all the way down to my feet. I decided then that the days fishing was over.

The fish fry is Friday but I'll be going to a quilt retreat this weekend.

Wednesdays Catch

Whoppers!!!!

I know this is primarily a quilting blog but I am having so much fun fishing.

The new waders DH bought me were really too small (the brown pair). The blue pair of waders was a loaner from a neighbor. My new pair of Orvis waders are nice and roomy. That means comfy.

I have been doing a little applique in the afternoons. I'll try and remember to post a picture of my birds.

Fishing Day #2

Day one brought 4 nice trout. (Actually they are all nice).

Day two. I've got 6 nice rainbow trout. The pictlure without a smile is because I'm cold and have hiked half a mile back to the campground.

The rain is moving in tonight. No matter what the weather we always have a great time here.

Another Day, another limit

The weather continues to be beautiful in the mountains. The serenity of fishing in the stream is bliss.

I went to a Arts & Crafts Show in Sylva, NC yesterday. It was fabulous. I am always intrigued by the different arts in different areas of the country.

These are a few of the vendors at the show. I have one more picture I'll save for another post. A beautiful piece of blown glass.

Today I think I'll go up stream a little to the falls for a little more challenging fishing. The freezer is pretty full so we may be giving away a couple stringers of fish.

Got my limit!

Mr FQ and I are here in the mountains of NC. The days are hot and the evenings are cool.

I went fishing yesterday around 3pm and by 5pm I had my limit of 10 nice trout. YUM!

I'm sitting here this morning beside a nice fire Mr FQ had built and a good cup of coffee.

So relaxing here.

On the quilty side of things, I finished binding my Downy quilt and got one side of the spider web quilt sewn down.

I'm off to a Arts and Crafts Show in Waynesville this morning.

Fair Results, Finishes and Fish

The picture to the right is a double wedding ring table runner and got a blue ribbon. Below is the heart quilt, a red ribbon. The house picture not shown also has a second place ribbon.

My finishes for this weekend. Quilting the 4 patch swirl from the QSC retreat last year. The picture doesn't do it justice. Its really bright and cheerful. I'm going to surprise someone who has been encouraging me from the start.
And a Love Quilt suitable for a young boy. All home spuns and a flannel backing with buffalo on it.

Here is another picture from our fishing trip. The trout in front is the 19 incher. The fish were so heavy I had to wrap the stringer around a stick to carry back to the camp ground.
More pictures later.
Trying to rest up today. Back to work tomorrow.

Home from NC

We are back from NC after having a wonderful time dispite the rainy and cool weather.

Here is a dresden plate quilt I will be quilting soon. It is one that has been on hold in the closet and I want to get it finished.

We caught plenty of large fish this year. One was 19 inches long. Our friends from Scotland learned and caught plenty of fish. They enjoyed the experience and liked our big fish fry.

This is a few hours of fishing, a limit of 10. :-) One of the few days where I caught my limit.
