Spools Top and Christmas Figs

I finished my spools top yesterday so now it can join the multitude of other tops just waiting for quilting.

Speaking of quilting, the latest on my machine is that two more (different) cables are coming my way. I hope this fixes the communication error.

I have always admired the Christmas Figs quilt pattern and have had the book for years.   Recently I decided it was time to make that quilt for my bed for next Christmas. Well I couldn’t find it anywhere and I’m not surprised after this last move. So I ordered and received a new one, gathered my fabrics from my stash.  I’ve made the first two blocks and LOVE IT!!!  The blocks are 16.5 inches unfinished. So pretty!

Yesterday I sewed three backs for kids quilts, for whenever the quilting mood strikes.

Staying busy is good and therapeutic for me. 🐸

Home Is block #3 and Spool Quilt Top

I made my Home Is block number three yesterday.

Looking at my design wall everyday were spool my blocks.  They have been there too long.  Time to audition the sashing strips.

This is the fabric I selected.

Excuse the turned picture, blogger is acting up.  Next up will be adding a border in the sashing fabric for a finished top.

Home Is Quilt Along and My New Favorite Notion

I have started Pat Sloans new quilt along called Home Is.  I am doing mine in patriotic colors and will become a QOV upon finishing.

My new favorite notion is called Acorn Precision Piecing. It is a way of applying starch directly on the seams before pressing.  I love how flat my blocks are!  I bought mine from the Fat Quarter Shop and the price was reasonable. I use Mary Ellen’s Best Press for my starch liquid.  You could use any liquid starch.

Today’s Fun

Yep it’s been all fun and no binding. I may do a binding later but no guarantees.

I sewed the big churn dash pieces together and plan to add a white 2.5 inch border.  So cute.

Cherrie McConnel of A Quilting Life is doing a sampler block of the month for 2021.  I made my January block today in patriotic colors as this will be the start of a QOV.

Still Using 2.5 inch Squares

I found this neat pattern in a churn dash book and you guessed it, it uses 2.5 inches squares.  All the components are done just need to sew it together.

I have completed binding on four love quilts and am averaging two a day.  After I do the two bindings I sew something for fun!

Lots of Stitching Going On!

I have been busy cutting and sewing.  I also started sewing nine patch blocks out of lots of 2.5 inch blocks.  I have been cutting them for a long time.  I’ve barely made a dent in the amount of these blocks.

Enjoy the new set of kid quilt tops.  With the addition of these I must bind the quilted ones.  There is about a dozen just waiting.
