More sorting

Yesterday we had a busy day.  We both worked upstairs.  Far Guy managed to gather together a garbage bag full of worthless stuff so I added some old computer accessories that I had shoved under my desk up there too many years ago to recall.  We went to the transfer station and recycle once and are gathering for another recycle trip...mostly old magazines...Farm and Ranch Living and nearly every issue of Martha Stewart Living.

I filed last years Christmas card photos and letters that I could not part with.  I sorted through some of the Shiny Brites and will sell some of them.  Three boxes were sold yesterday but that is just a drop in the bucket.  The lady was just thrilled!

This is the next bunch on the chopping block.

We made some discoveries...you know things put away so well that you forgot you had them.   A sure sign that we are aging.

  1. I always feel a sense of relief when I am able to offload a load of possessions, especially when they make someone else happy.

  2. Wow, you sure are going through things and uncluttering!
I did so much of that when we remodeled. I got rid of so much useless stuff then and am slowly working on more.
The stuff in the two sheds will have to wait until hubby is no longer here to keep me from sorting and getting rid of boxes of bolts and nails ... and whatnot. I imagine I'll sell his pieces and parts of stuff at auction.
    You sure are making progress.
    Those shiny brites are beautiful!

  3. I have a few Shiny Brites but don't know what will happen to them or the rest of my ornaments when I am gone. I guess they will be dumped. It truly makes me sad to think no one will get the enjoyment out of them the way I did.

  5. Yes, a sure sign. But it makes for surprises.

  6. It sure feels good to sort through and get rid of things just sitting around. Glad you were able to sell the Christmas ornaments...I was at Hobby Lobby last night and even at 1/2 price, the Christmas ornaments were still pricey.

  7. Beautiful ornaments! I can understand the excitement of the buyer.
It's fun finding items that I've forgotten about - unless I discover I now have multiples of items that I need only one of.

  8. It's been several years since I brought my Christmas ornaments upstairs to use. With two naughty cats I don't see a tree anytime in my future. You made someone happy!

  9. I like your lights with your blue glass dishes. I've taken a bit from you and started a sort day of my own. Yesterday was the pantry----why oh why did I keep so much stuff in the pantry---tea tins, out dated this and that. What a mess. Then I started on my embroidery. I will give away my kits I will never ever do. Thank you so much for the whole idea of SORT DAY!

  12. You are parting with your Shiny Brites? Yes, I guess putting up that special tree was getting to be too much. I am having similar thoughts about all of my decorations. Each year I think might be the last. So far, no.

  13. Purging always feels so good. It's difficult to get started for me, but once I get into it...well, it's marvelous when it is done. You are making some other people very happy with those Shiny Brites. Winter seems like the right time for sorting and downsizing. :)

  14. Those look like some old bulbs, like the ones I had growing up.

  16. Shiny Brites are so pretty. They get more popular every year. Our tree is so full of personal oranments. I should get a big glass bowl to put them in.

  18. "Us" elderlies have lots of surprises in store. We stored stuff years ago and then forgot about them. Now we find them and surprise , surprise.

  19. You two are inspiring to us! My brother lives in NY and they call them transfer stations, too. We call them recycling centers in TN. Do you have any little libraries that people have built and placed around town? There are quite a few here in Cleveland. I have taken old magazines there, too and people take them - - especially if they are recipes or decorating. I am super proud of both of you for what you have accomplished!

  21. It’s nice to sell things when you no longer have use for them. Sigrid sold some of her clothes on the Zeta site and made $150. She was thrilled ♥️

  22. I know, with my cleaning and clearing that's been going on for a year now, it is like an archeological dig! I come up with things I never knew I had!
