El ciclo celular
Las células son las unidades básicas de las que están formados todos los seres
vivos y, por tanto, realizan las funciones vitales propias de estos: la nutrición, la
relación y la reproducción. Vamos a estudiar cuándo realiza la célula cada una de
estas funciones y nos centraremos en la función de reproducción celular.
Llamamos ciclo celular al conjunto de fenómenos que tienen lugar en la vida de

una célula desde que se origina dicha célula hasta que se reproduce. La duración
del ciclo celular varía según el tipo de células y puede oscilar desde unas pocas
horas hasta más de un año.
El ciclo celular consta de dos fases de duración desigual:
