Christmas Mug Jumper (Hook Size: 4.0mm)

*Crochet all in rows*

Row 1: Chain 17 with pink yarn, from the 2nd SC, 16 SC, turn (16)

Row 2: CH 1, 16 SC, turn (16)

Continue crocheting the rows in the same way as row 2. The number of rows you will crochet may
vary according to the size of your mug. Continue to measure.

Row 3 - 60: CH 1, 16 SC turn (16)

Now you want to make the strap, continue to crochet in rows.

*For demonstration purposes, I made a little swatch to show the strap*

Continue to measure, as strap size may vary according to the size of the mug, you may want to do
more/ less rows.

Starting from your last row, turn your work:

Row 61: CH 1, DEC, SC 12, DEC, turn (14)

Row 62: CH 1, DEC, SC 10, DEC, turn (12)

Row 63: CH 1, DEC, SC 8, DEC, turn (10)

Row 64 - 71: CH 1, SC in all 10 stitches, turn (10)

Row 72: Turn your work, CH 1, 3 SC, CH 10, Skip 4 SC, 3 SC, turn, (6)

Row: 73: CH 1, 3 SC, SC IN 10 CH, 3 SC (16)

Fasten off and hide the yarn.

After you have finished the main Christmas Jumper, that will wrap around
the mug, you can choose to add a border (as pictured at the start of this
pattern) or leave without a border. I used a white chenille chunky yarn.

Border (Optional)
Round 1: Starting in the corner with your white yarn, CH 1 and work 1 SC
into the first stitch, skip the next stitch, then 1 SC into the next stitch and so
on. Crochet into the corner and CH 1.

Carry on crocheting along the straight edge, the same way as before. SC in
the first stitch, skip the next stitch, crochet into the corner and CH 1.

Continue to crochet until you reach the corner of the strap. 1 SC into the
corner, CH 1, 1 SC in the next stitch and skip the next stitch. You now want
to work 4 SC into the stitches that you skipped when making the strap in the
previous row (See Photo’s Below). Then 1 SC in the next stitch, skip the next
stitch and 1 SC into the corner. (See Photo’s Below)

CH 1, continue to work 1 SC into the next stitch, skip the next stitch and so on until you complete the
round, Sl st into the first stitch where you joined the white yarn. Fasten off and hide the yarn.

Now you just need to sew on your button. You may want to fit it around your mug first to determine
the best place for it.

Christmas Mittens (Hook Size: 3.0mm)

*Crochet in rounds*

For the Thumb: (Make 2)

Round 1: In grey yarn make a magic ring, 6 SC into the magic ring (6)

Round 2: 2 SC, 1 INC, 2 SC, 1 INC (8)

Round 3: SC in all 8 stiches (8)

Sl st to finish off, cut and hide the yarn.

For the Mitten: (Make 2)

Round 1: In grey yarn make a magic ring, 8 SC into the magic ring (8)

Round 2: 1 INC in each stitch around 8 times (16)

Round 3 - 6: SC in all 16 stitches (16)

Round 7: 12 SC, DEC, 2 SC (15)

*It’s now time to connect the thumb*

Make sure that the thumb is the correct way up before you start.

Round 8: Connect the thumb with a slip stitch (do not crochet into
the slip stitches).

Working around the thumb only - 3 SC, 1 DEC, 3 SC, with the last SC
stitch on the thumb, you want to connect this to the mitten.

You now want to work around the thumb and the mitten.

Round 9: 8 SC, 1 DEC, 7 SC, 1 DEC, 3 SC (20)

Round 10: 14 SC, 2 DEC, 2 SC (18)

Round 11: 6 SC, 1 DEC, 6 SC, 1 DEC, 2 SC (16)

Change Colour! (White - Chenille Chunky Yarn)

Round 12: FLO Only – SC in all 16 stitches (16)

*I suggest marking the start of your SC in the back loop, helping you to find it
later OR please see the suggestion box on the next page below*

Sl st to finish off, cut and hide yarn.

Change Colour! (Pink)

Round 13: BLO Only - SC in all 16 stitches (16)

Lightly Stuff the mitten

Depending on the length of your arm, you may want to crochet more/ less rows.

Round 14 –23: SC in all 16 stitches (16)

Crochet a few extra stitches into the corner of the arm.

Push the edges of the opening together and crochet 7
SC through both stitches along the top, closing the
mitten. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Suggestion - If you have struggled to find the back loop, you may want to alternate and
work the back loop first, working with the pink yarn:

Round 12: BLO Only - SC in all 16 stitches (16)

Round 13 -15: SC in all 16 stitches (16)

Return to where you crocheted in the back loops and work the front loops only in white – Chenille
Chunky Yarn.

Round 16: FLO Only – SC in all 16 stitches (16)

Sl st to finish off, cut and hide the yarn.

Return to the pink yarn and carry on working in rounds.

Round 17 - 23: SC in all 16 stitches (16)

Assembly
Position the Christmas Mug Jumper and find the central point. I
added some wooden love heart buttons, which I positioned in
the centre, this also acted as a guide to add the arms.

Add the arms on either side at a slight angle, making sure they
are positioned at the same height, leaving a slight gap at the
bottom of the Christmas Mug Jumper so you can still see the
edging. Sew the mittens on to the jumper so they stay in
position.

Finally, sew on any added decorations of your choice, I added on

some small snowflakes to give it that Christmassy feel!
