- Project news
- Up, up, and away! A new task force was started this month for editors interested in contributing to films based on comic books. Comic fans are needed to help improve some of the project's most viewed articles, especially with the many upcoming comic book films. If you've been bit by a radioactive spider, spend a lot of time in a cave below your mansion, or enjoy carrying a hammer, head over to the project page to sign up.
- After a lengthy discussion regarding the additions of unsourced lists covering the differences between novels and their film adaptations, an RfC has been opened. You are invited to comment on the best way to incorporate these sections into film articles. Another RfC is open regarding the use of non-free images in character articles as well.
- Bovineboy2008 has initiated a project to help improve the films nominated for the upcoming Academy Awards. As these articles will and are being viewed by large numbers of viewers, consider helping out improving Wikipedia's coverage of these recognized films.
- Our project currently has over 81,600 film-related articles, with over four hundred unassessed articles, thanks to the assessment department! Remember to always add the
{{WikiProject Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. If you believe that an article should be assessed at a certain class, feel free to follow the assessment scale and assess the article yourself (it's not too difficult to determine the basic classes such as stubs, categories, or lists). Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class.
- Based on views, the top five most popular articles from our project this month were: Black Swan, Inception, The King's Speech, The Social Network, and 127 Hours (all have been nominated by various award organizations). For a list of our project's top 1,000 most popular articles, see here. Consider helping to improve one of these articles that is seen by thousands to millions of people each month.
- Latter Days, one of the project's older FAs, has been nominated for FAR. Additional assistance is needed to resolve issues raised by reviewers.
- Spotlight Update: Multiple films and film-related articles have reached GA and FA status in January 2011.
- Member news
- New members to the project since the last issue include: Andreasmperu, Andrew042886, Andy M. Wang, Ashok2102, Bahavd Gita, Bill william compton, DocOfSoc, Ending-start, Gabriele449, Glimmer721, Invisec, Ktlynch, TazDev00, Yaksar, and Yamum49.
- Remember that any editor can give the WikiProject Film Award to another WP:Films member. If you do present this award, please make mention of it here or tell one of the newsletter editors who will then include it in the next issue.
- Please add your name to the member list if you have not already.
