Unlike in other Germanic Kingdoms (The Visigoths, the Burgundians, the Ostrogoths, etc.) there is no evidence in the Edict of Rothar or elsewhere that indicates the continued use of Roman Law. The exceptions being in recently conquered Byzantine territories under King Liutprand. Rather, the language of the Edict indicates that it had become the national law of the Lombard Kingdom by 643. undo
