Hello, Tassedethe,

I see you use an editing tool to correct redirects after a page move. When you are doing this for the Redirect page, could also do this for the Redirect Talk page as well? For some reason, these talk pages get forgotten and usually are deleted as broken redirects. I don't know why but some of our page movers leave redirects behind for the main article page but not for the talk pages. Thank you for any help you can supply. Liz Read! Talk! 21:26, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Liz. I think you left me a message about this before and since then I have tried to also correct the talk page redirects as well. Unfortunately I missed this one, thanks for the clean up. Tassedethe (talk) 21:28, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Widower

[edit]

Hi Tassedethe, I see you moved the Widower (TV series) to (miniseries). UK programmes are usually much shorter than US programmes, and sometimes can be as short as three episodes a series, and then have no more series, or maybe multiple series of a few episodes. UK dramas are normally classed as TV series, save when it's a joint production and then it's debatable on which format to use.Halbared (talk) 21:15, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Strictly I moved The Widower to The Widower (miniseries). I wouldn't move The Widower (TV series) to The Widower (miniseries), per your concerns. Yes, UK TV series can be much shorter than US ones, but 3 episodes to me is clearly mini. I'm not invested in (miniseries) however... so I can move it again if you feel strongly. Tassedethe (talk) 21:24, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Tassedethe, thank you for the response and the correction on the details of the move. I've checked the page again and as a wholly British programme TV series fits with the other British one series dramas on Wiki, save for the ones labelled as serials which was the format a while back. I do feel strongly, keeping the format the same for British dramas seems best for continuity. Could you move it to align it with the rest, please?Halbared (talk) 10:39, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, done! Tassedethe (talk) 16:10, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've cleaned up after your move their significantly, since the redirect you deleted to make way for the move was hiding several other topics (which are now at Chloe Wilson (dog) and Chloe Wilson (disambiguation)). Please make sure to check the history before deleting things in the future, and you may want to reconsider whether the bowler is still the primary topic - he certainly doesn't look like one to me anymore. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:00, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Footballer categories

[edit]

Unsure how or why, but your edits are introducing double spacing into categories, which I have fixed at e.g. here and here. GiantSnowman 21:03, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pasting ' men's ' into the category so that it will always be right whether the cursor is left or right of the existing space. And I had actually assumed extra spaces were being auto-stripped, mainly as the categories show correctly when saved. Is this actually causing problems? Because it's going to be in many more edits than just those two. Tassedethe (talk) 21:07, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, there's no issues with it appearing in the relevant category. I've manually fixed the ones in my watchlist. GiantSnowman 18:20, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK great. I started again but I'm talking more care this time, no extra spaces. Tassedethe (talk) 18:38, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dab pages for cleanup

[edit]

Hi, I occasionally work in Category:Disambiguation pages in need of cleanup, and your name keeps popping up in the pages' history as the original cleanup marker. What's your method for "finding" the dirty dab pages in the first place? (I usually just want to clean them up but not dig around for them.) – sgeureka tc 08:53, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sgeureka, unfortunately I don't have a way of detecting or finding them. I just do a lot of work with dab pages, especially adding new articles as needed. And that sends me to a lot of random pages. There used to be someone who did create lists of pages that had issues, but they have long since given up. Hoax on French Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello, I have found a former hoax article on the French Wikipedia where information about it is very scarce. It can be considered lost media. It was about a Chinese scholar named Li M'hâ Ong (or Li Ma-hong) (which was apparently a parody of the phrase "lime á ongles" which means toenail clipper or file) and reportedly existed for over a decade on the French wiki before it was removed in 2015 or 2016. There is almost absolutely zero information still on the internet on what this article was about. It feels like it was quite long, given that multiple French dictionary sites have referenced it as a source for example sentences about "gnarled trees" until recently. The article also had a bunch of supposed quotes from the scholar, apparently, such as: "On nomme d'ordinaire mythologie les récits sacrés des religions auxquelles plus personne ne croit", which in English means "We usually call mythology the sacred stories of religions that no one believes in anymore". One quote, "le clou qui dépasse connaîtra le marteau " (Li M'Hâ Ong)" (The nail that sticks out will know the hammer) has been referenced on the website of TECFA, which is located at Geneva University, as a real quote, and appears to be not the only occurrence where Li M'Hâ Ong is seriously quoted. This article was apparently a very elaborate hoax. Do you know anything about the article or its contents? (Source: https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discussion:Mythologie, https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Projets_p%C3%A9dagogiques/Universit%C3%A9_du_Qu%C3%A9bec_en_Outaouais, both French) 87.122.16.35 (talk) 16:27, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
