This is at Middle Tennessee State University. The biggest college in TN
@William Russell We're famous !
Cool yes, but leadership has decided to avid posting evening pics on our Twitter, because it looks gloomy. Plus it makes people wonder "Why do they do flyers at night?"
@Logan Not counter-signaling though
I like the neon in the background, it looks like a futuristic Miami Vice
Let's not clog this channel with non I.E. Press@Deleted User

@Zyzz @cannoliqueen - NY#4073
I donate to goodwill.
-My Mom is a ninja at this, she goes to yard sales at the end of the day.... and asks to buy all the clothes for say $50. People generally agree, because yard sales are typically people getting rid of stuff.
-She then takes a huge pile of clothes, itemizes, folds, and takes pics of them. Then she donates them to Goodwill and gets the tax deduction for my business owner Dad.
-She secures between $10-20k deduction annually doing only this.
@Zyzz
There's lots of ways for we men to organize the contribution of our women.
By doing this my Dad gets:
1) A wife who gets her 'shopping fix' at inexpensive yard sales
2) Tax deductions which raise the standard of living of his family
3) This income justifies having a wife who can stay at home and be caretaker to his 5 kids and coming brood of grandkids ๐
IE representing in Nashville today!
@Marius ?
@Deleted User I still use my steel framed ALICE pack. An oldie but a goodie.
I used to carry 120lb loads several times, with no stress on the pack.
I bought upgraded shoulder pads and a kidney belt, for like $40 you can make a military surplus pack modern and comfortable.
@Deleted User Hammer curls put way less tension on your elbow ligiments.
Twitter is coming for us....
+1 for "Rich Dad Poor Dad"
That book changed how I view my surroundings, and my strategy for living.
@Perihelion - CA Waay above my tech comprehension level.
>Tips hat to you tech ninjas.
@Joe-MN Pray tell
@William Russell Great work pushing the narrative!!!!
^^^^^^^
@Mark Vandal You're officially a Bro!!!
@Thomas Morrow I struggle with finding time too.
I stalked Craigslist for gym equipment. 3 months later, I had 500 lbs of plates, a squat rack, bench, 2 barbells and a pullup/dip bar.
All for about $300.
Now my garage is a gym, I can always find the time, when the gym is 20 feet away. ๐
@wolfwood It depends.
You need to be able to tell the difference between "sore" and injured. If you are new to this, then you want have the experience to know the difference.
Personally, I'm a fan of routines. If you did a 3 day per week workout schedule, you'd have plenty of rest days.
Stretch out plenty afterwards. doing cardio(running for me) after lifting gets your blood flowing and helps to carry the lactic acid from your system. Which helps with soreness.
There's a zillion different workout gurus out there. Find someone you believe is worthy, and who has accomplished what you want to do.
For me, Mark Rippetoe was my go to source for info for the first 6 months I was in the gym.
That's your call man.
It's your goals, your body and needs to be your motovation.
I'm a wake up 1 hour earlier than necessary to get the gym done kinda guy.
Experiment with your schdule, meal times, etc.
Find what works, and make it a routine.
If you can get yourself into a routine, it is much easier to keep the routine.
Starting strength is about getting measurably stronger over time... While building experience in the gym. Learning your strengths/weaknesses and your preferences and strategies needed to get there.
I did the starting strength plan for 6 months when I started. I gained 20 lbs, and a solid foundation.
@JohnStrasser I don't take anything. I hate the jittery feeling from caffeine/stimulants.
Good job to be talking important stuff like form.
That mindset will profit you more than "Let's see how much I can load on this bar, bro!"
A way I tell if i'm doing something right...
-The next day, are the muscles sore, that are supposed to be?
-Good
-Am I sore where I shouldn't be?
-I need to change something
@JC17-OR#5414 You mentioned gains, are you saying you are struggling to gain muscle from a Boxing-centric regimen?
If so, that would be normal. Boxing/striking aren't hypertrophic stimuluses generally speaking.
@JC17-OR Yeah man,
I'm a 'don't reinvent the wheel' type.
When I have a specific goal, I try to follow someone else who has been there.
For gains...https://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/arnold-schwarzenegger-blueprint-trainer-mass-nutrition.html
The classic stuff works.
@Deleted User At the grocery store, I buy a roast. $12-15 gets you a huge chunk of meat.
Then at home, I cut the roast into the cuts I want and seal them in tupperware.
When I was in college and competing in mma, I worked a night job as a bouncer at a night club.
Dealing with blacks required
1) Specifically Challenging the leader. Making him feel respected, and preventing the underlings from jumping in(this would sully the leaders reputation)
2) Having a reputation. Once you are known to be dangerous, black guys will usually just resign themselves to aggressive posturing and passive-aggressive shouting/insults.
lol, I'm from TN. Blacks are accustomed to our ways, perhaps.
I did get to KO black guys 2 seperate times with takedowns.
Wrestling is the Zulu kryptonite!!
90% of men can't even hit a bag with respectable force.
Agreed. Being "capable" is more than intellectualism.@Deleted User
@Deleted User Yeah, I counter-signal the anti military posting hardcore.
I credit the USMC for TONS of my personal development. Military service (particularly combat mos)provides fantastic intangibles in everyday life.
Only you can decide that.
I would have enlisted regardless of the circumstances.
Perhaps think this way, some Tyrone who joined the Army and worked in the cafeteria for 4 years has more weapons training, experience with mission planning, and practical warfare experience than you.
(I'm not directly insulting you)
Bootcamp is 3 months long. Infantry school is 3 months long. Other specific training can be from months to even 1.5 yrs long.
I'm not troubled at all, we shared a ride coming back from Cville. ๐
Maybe put this way...
If you wanted to learn to fight, would you:
-Join a MMA gym with multiple UFC fighters and world class coaches
or
-Ask one of the members of the gym to give you private lessons in your backyard every now an then?
Certainly you could be trained, and with dedication you could be formidable. But it would never be the same, ya know?
The .mil has 100's of millions in training budgets, weaponry, bases etc.
See my above analogy.
No way you could be equally proficient to someone who was trained by verified experts, with massive logistical support, and done so on a full time basis.
@here
I'm starting to up my cardio here on the backside of winter.(gotta have the abs by spring) ;)
For non running cardio, I have been doing light kettlebell swings, and lighly weighted jump squats.
Any advice for winter fat burning?
@Volkmom Gloves for hitting the bag, or for MMA?
@Deleted User the TN sparring group is having our first meetup this Saturday. ๐
Ive never done fasted training consistantly, I'm up for the experiment.@Zyzz @Deleted User
@Volkmom I like heavy gloves for bag work,
but, if he wants minimalist gloves, then wrist wraps will be necessary.https://www.walmart.com/ip/108-Everlast-Boxing-Handwraps/11996077?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2757&adid=22222222227000129745&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40331775632&wl4=pla-59800897191&wl5=9013144&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=11996077&wl13=2757&veh=sem
Wrist wraps brace your fist into proper alignment with your forearm, and help prevent injury and hand soreness.
@Volkmom For MMA, these were my fav gloveshttps://www.dreamelitepro.com/product-page/dream-elite-pride-mma-gloves
Buuuut, they are 4 ounces, and have exposed fingers(for grappling)....
This makes them less useful for hitting the heavy bag, or sparring with your buddies. Because no one wants to practice with the guy with small gloves(it's hurts more to be hit).
@Tron I train in my garage. No machines :(
@punisher#2677 Thanks, bro. I had a good buddy from Redding CA. He swore Redding was the from the state of NorCal, the land of the sane. ๐
Today, my city was conducting a special census. The fire department was going door to door collectng info.
I asked "Any surprises in the neighborhood, gentlemen?"
He replied "There was a house full of Mexicans on the other street, not a one of them spoke English."
I then said "Build The Wall!" with a wink.
The fireman smiled and said "I can't say that on duty, but I'm with you".
