Scenic Combo

Good morning!  Steph here and I absolutely love this stamp from Heartfelt Creations. It's so peaceful. I chose to create a fall scene, but think how lovely it would look with summer colors!

I stamped the image and colored it with Copic Markers. Once I die cut to the oval shape, I used Crushed Olive Distress Ink and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to add some color around the image.

I lightly sponged on both colors with an inking tool, then darkened the colors around the outside edges of the oval. Once done, I matted the oval with green cardstock then assembled my card.

The sentiment is from JustRite Stamper's Nature's Nested Sentiments. I stamped it with black ink and, after cutting to size, I inked the edges with Crushed Olive Distress Ink.  Joy Foam Pads provided a little dimension under the sentiment.
What a beautiful scenic card!  Thanks, Steph!

I hope and pray that all of our blog friends and your loved ones have made it safely through Sandy!  Please let us hear from you!

Thanks for stopping by!!!  Until next time...

Gun Metal Berries Ornament card

Hi card-makers!  It's Holly posting today, and I bet you're wondering about the "gun metal" in my title.  LOL  That comes from the name of the pearls that I used on this card - Gun Metal Pearls from Want2Scrap.  I decided to do something different and used these dark silver Gun Metal pearls for the berries on top of the ornament on my card.  I love how they contrast with all the burgundy and beige on this card.

Here are the supplies I used for my card:
Gun Metal Pearls (Want2Scrap)
Twig Wreath die (Impression Obsession)
2011 Heirloom Ornament die (Spellbinders) - sold out
Joy Foam pads (small)

I started with a vanilla card base and added a layer of black cardstock.  The burgundy with circles paper from the Handmade Holiday pad was layered on to the black cardstock.  I added a strip of black cardstock and then a smaller strip of the beige polka dot paper (also from the Handmade Holiday pad).  Next, I stamped the ornament with some burgundy ink and then colored in parts of it with Copic markers.  I stamped the sentiment with black ink directly in the middle of the ornament, and then I used the corresponding die from the 2011 Heirloom die set to cut the ornament out.

The pine branch at the top of my ornament was created by running the Twig Wreath die through my machine with some dark green cardstock.  I did this four times so I could have two sprigs of pine on either side of the ornament.  The pine branch is one of the smaller dies inside the wreath die.  I didn't use any of the other parts of the die - just the little pine branch.  I adhered the ornament with some Joy foam pads, affixed the pine branches at the top, and added three of the gun metal pearls to the center.

Another cute Christmas card!  Thanks, Holly!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi everyone!

I have a Thanksgiving card to share with you today.  I started with a kraft card base and used the A2 Matting Basics A to cut the mats.  These Spellbinders die cuts make cutting straight mats a breeze!  I cut the Lacey Pumpkin Corner Flourish and adhered it with dots of Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive with the metal tip.  Using the metal tip with the adhesive gives lots more control over the amount of glue and the placement.  Love it!!!

I colored the pumpkin and flower with Distress Ink Markers. I filled the leaves with Meadow Spark Ultra Fine Glitter by Sparkle 'n Sprinkle.  I filled the leaves using the Quickie Glue Pen.   I wanted the glitter a little thicker in a few places, so I added some of the Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive and sprinkled more glitter on top.

I die cut Happy and Thanksgiving and adhered them in the same way.  I didn't have matching baby pearls for the center of the flower and dotting the i's in Thanksgiving, so I colored White Baby Pearls with a matching Copic marker.

I framed it using one of the Assorted Gold Lines styles.  I think the lines add a finishing touch, don't you??

Water Wheel Scene

Hi, it's Steph with another card using some awesome products from Classy Cards n Such.

I created a 5 1/2" square card and used my Scor-Buddy to  create the perfect fold. Using several pattern papers from Simple Stories Handmade Holidays 6x6 pad, I created the card layers. The stamp is part of a 2 piece set from Heartfelt Creations called Scenic Combo and I absolutely loved coloring it with Copic Markers. Since I wanted it to fit the front of my card, I chose to cut it into an oval shape, but made sure to keep the trees intact in the upper left. Using Spellbinders Labels 18, I created a mat for the image from cardstock.

The sentiment is from Justrite's Nature's Nested Sentiments and is just the perfect mate to this image. The image was added with small Joy Foam Pads while the sentiment was added with large Joy Foam Pads.

Beautiful card, Steph!!  Thanks!

White Rose Wreath

Hi everyone!  It's Jenn and I have an easy to make wreath card to share with you this week.

For starters,  I began with a base of Stardream Ruby cardstock measuring 4.25 x 5.5 inches.   Next, using Stardream Emerald cardstock, I cut out the Curly Wreath Die by PoppyStamps. It's hard to see the wreath because I already have the flowers and leaves added, but this die cut has so many different potentials and cuts out nicely.

Curly Wreath
Before I adhered the wreath to my card base, I decorated it. I started with the Mini Roses in White. These come with very long wire stems and I recommend that if you are going to use them to decorate a wreath that you cut the stems shorter so that you don't have so much wire to wrap around the wreath. Once I had the roses in place, it looked a little sparse so I used my leaf punch and the Stardream Emerald cardstock to create some leaves and fill in the gaps. I used glue dots to adhere my completed wreath to the card base. However, for added dimension you could use adhesive foam pads.

For finishing touches I cut out a label and stamped my sentiment on it.

Such a beautiful card, Jenn!  Thanks!!

Stampavie has some great new Christmas stamps out this year!   Four of them are already in the Classy Cards shop along with some great foil from Spellbinders.   You can see it all when you click here!  Click any of the gold links above to go to the products which Jenn used on her card.

Woodland Ornament

Hi folks!  It's Holly posting today, and I am sharing my Woodland Ornament card this time.  I love making rustic things, whether it is cards, wreaths, pies, or soups.  Here are the supplies that I used on this card:
Christmas Sentiments stamp set (Impression Obsession)
Deer Trio die (Memory Box)

I die cut the Deer Trio from kraft cardstock and then cut the largest deer away from the trio.  The antlers were colored with a brown Copic marker and I sponged some brown ink on his body.  I die cut the ornament from one of the patterned papers in the Handmade Holiday pad, wrapped some linen thread around the top, and adhered the deer to the ornament.  I added some white cardstock to the bottom, trimmed the edges, covered the white "snow" with the Art Institute glue and then sprinkled the Crystal Ice glitter on top.  You can see the glitter in the close-up picture below.

While I waited for the glue/glitter to dry, I ran some kraft cardstock through the Bricks and Bark embossing folder.  I used the Cuttlebug Highlights technique on the embossed piece and then distressed the edges.  I adhered that to some distressed artichoke cardstock and then adhered that to some more patterned paper from the Handmade Holiday pad.  I stamped the sentiment at the bottom of a kraft card base, adhered the papers to the card base, and wrapped some linen thread around the bottom.  The ornament was adhered to the embossed cardstock with some Joy foam pads.
Another great card, Holly!  When I first saw this one, I thought "What a great card for a man!"   Those are so hard sometimes, so here is a great idea!   In addition to the Deer Trio, we now have a set of Antlers by Memory Box!   You can purchase your own set, or any of the other products, by following the gold links above.

A Purple Rose

Good morning, Steph here and I absolutely love the large rose stamp from the Classic Bella Rose set from Heartfelt Creations - it's such a pretty, detailed stamp. I used an assortment of Copic Markers to color the rose and the leaves, then used brown ink around the edges after I die cut it.

I created a crisscross card which is approximately 5 1/2" x 4 1/2". Using my Scor-Buddy made it so easy to get the perfect score lines. To dress up the front, I die cut a Spellbinders border die and then used the Nested Oval Medallion Labels as the base for the rose. The rose was added with Joy Foam Adhesives for a 3D effect.

My interior card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/4", was cut from brown cardstock, then white cardstock was added on top using Scor-Tape. The sentiments are from Topsy Turvy Cakes by JustRite Stampers. The two colors of ink coordinate with the roses which I added to the right side of the card with Joy Foam Adhesives.

A close up of the rose.

What a beautiful card, Steph!  Click on any of the gold links above to see the products Steph used on her card.

3D Ornament Card

Hey, it's Holly posting today, and I've got a new Christmas card to share with you.  Slowly but surely I'm building up my Christmas stash.  Hopefully I'll have enough cards made before December rolls around!  :-)

On this card today, I was going for a homespun country feel with a fun 3D element thrown in.  I started with a vanilla card base, added a burgundy layer, and a layer of patterned paper from the Handmade Holiday 6x6 paper pack.  I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment with black ink toward the bottom of the patterned paper - it looks like it is part of the paper, doesn't it?  This sentiment is from the Noel Christmas Ornaments stamp set from Just Rite.  Also in that same stamp set, I pulled out the small oval ornament and stamped it on burgundy cardstock several times.  This ornament was cut out with the new 2012 Heirloom Ornaments die set (Spellbinders) - I just lined it up over each stamped ornament and die cut each one individually.

Once my ornaments were die cut, I used the Going 3D technique from Technique Junkies to transform the flat ornaments into a wonderful 3D version.  I wanted just a wee touch of sparkle on these ornaments, so I pulled out my Sakura Stardust Glitter Pen and went over some of the lines to give them a little oomph.  You can see the ornament and the sparkle in the close-up picture below.

I tied some linen thread around the top of the 3D ornament and set it aside while I die cut the fabulous Pine Branch.  It was just too green for me, so I used a brown Copic marker to draw in the brown branches and I sponged a little brown ink to tone down the green-ness before I adhered it to my card.  I affixed the 3D ornament to the Pine Branch and then fluffed up the pine needles for a little extra texture.
Thanks, Holly, for another wonderful Christmas card!

Peace

Hi everyone. It's Jenn and I'm back this week with a Christmas card as promised!

My card is simple, yet elegant and can be made in under 15 minutes. This would be a great card to mass produce!
I started with a base of Pearlized Esse White Metallic measuring 4.25 x 5.5 inches. I ran the front layer through my Cuttlebug with the Holiday Magic Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder. These are fabulous as they are double-sided embossing folders. I used the "swirly" side.

Next, using the Holly Corner from Cheery Lynn Designs and the Stardream Emerald cardstock, I cut out two holly corners and added Baby Rhinestones in Red for the berries.

Continuing to work with the Stardream Emerald cardstock, I die cut a Grommet Tag and added Red Rhinestones in the grommet holes.

Using white cardstock and Spellbinders Labels Eighteen I die cut a label to stamp my sentiment on and then layered it on top of the grommet tag.

I hope that you will try the M-Bossabilities as they are a larger size embossing folder and you get two designs literally for the price of one. They emboss a nice crisp design that makes a lovely background for any simple, elegant card!

Jenn...such a beautiful card!  Click on any of the gold links above and you will see the items Jenn used to make this gorgeous card!

Daisies from Steph

Good morning everyone.  My name is Steph and I'm a new designer here at Classy Cards and I couldn't be more thrilled!!!  The store has awesome products and I know you'll find everything you'll need to create your projects.

Today, I'm using stamps from Botanical Medallions by JustRite Stampers.    Don't you love the Daisies!!  I colored them with markers before cutting them out.

I used a pre-made card and added black cardstock and some pattern paper for my card base.  I love layers because they add a lot of dimension to cards without a lot of bulk.    A strip of black cardstock was added to the card front and I tied some Doodle Twine around the center.  It is very easy to create layers when using assorted die cuts and/or cutting out your stamped images.  Since I wanted the Daisies to stand out, I die cut the smallest die from black cardstock from the Nested Oval Medallion Labels die cut set, then added a yellow die behind that and placed the sentiment across the top cut with the Vintage Label & Banner Dies.

Each die cut layer has been added to the card with Joy foam adhesives for dimension.

The card layers were adhered with Scor-Tape then Doodle Twine was tied around the center of the card before completing the card.
Thanks, Steph!   Cute card and welcome to the Classy Cards Design Team!!
The new October Cheery Lynn release is available now!  You can see it all in the NEW!!! section of the Classy Cards shop.  I only ordered items I felt would be of current interest so many of the items are marked as special order items.   There is no extra charge for special orders, but it will take a week or two to get them to me.  Some of the new release items include holidays through Mother's Day and some will probably be gradually added to the shop.   Some dies are larger and more appropriate for scrapbooking.   I'm happy to order as needed!  Take a peek!

Azalea Ringed Circle Buckle

Hi everyone!

I have a really fun and easy card for you today.   I've made several similar cards which can be used for just about any occasion.  Change out the colors or buckles and you have a completely different card!

I started with an ivory card base.  I usually match white and white, but this time, the ivory base just struck me!  :-)  I used the A2 Matting Basics A and A2 Matting Basics B to cut the pink and white mats.  The Matting Basics by Spellbinders make life so much easier for me when it comes to cutting mats!   They are always straight and have the exact borders that you want whether it's 1/8", 1/4" or multiples of one or the other!

The pink mat, Ringed Circle Buckle and Small Butterfly are all cut from Stardream Fuse Azalea cardstock.  I added white baby pearls to the center of the butterfly.

There are three buckle styles to choose from in the Classy Cards shop and you can see them all by clicking here.  You could always get extra use from the buckles by using them as a focal point or accent with a flower in the center!

The white mat is from the beautiful Butterflies cardstock!

I cut a short length of Rose/Pink May Arts ribbon and wove it through the buckle and adhered the ends to the back of the Azalea mat.  I added a couple of glue dots under the buckle with ribbon to keep it a little flatter.  This ribbon style has several gorgeous colors to choose from!  You can see all of the ribbon in the Classy Cards shop by clicking here.

I added a Happy Birthday Rubz using a stylus from the Paper Blossoms Paper Tool Kit.  These are so quick and easy to apply and no mess!!!

I made a frame for the card front using gold lines stickers.  These have the look of gold embossing and I think it is just the perfect way to take your card to the next level.
I hope you enjoyed my card today and will try it with your own flare!
