Sunshine ATC

Hello, Monique here with an ATC to show you.

Artist Trading Cards (ATC) are so much fun to make, working on a small surface (ATC size is 2,5 x 3,5 inch) can be a bit challenging, but the size is always good for a quick and easy project too.

Be careful these little cards are addictive, they can be collected and traded with other crafters and soon you will have a collection of little works of art from all over the word.

Look on Facebook for trading groups :-)

Supply list:

Blank Page Muse Sunshine, Cherub, Sunflower art stamp set SC 81

Distress ink in Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed

Stamp ink in black

Markers or Colored pencils in Yellows and Oranges

White cardstock (or pre made ATC cards)

Here some close up photos:

I Hope you enjoyed watching the video and I can't wait to see you ATC cards.

Hug Your Cat Day with Blank Page Muse

Hello!  Susie on the blog today with more Weird & Wonderful!  Today we are celebrating Hug Your Cat Day!

As a brand new, first time cat owner I do not need a special day to hug my cat because as all cat owners know, I hug him whenever he wants and/or allows me to hug him!  Seeing Hug Your Cat Day on the Fun Holiday Calendar (June 4th), however, did remind me of a super cute stamp I bought from Blank Page Muse and a technique I wanted to try with it using Sculpey clay.  It is called the Sutton Slice and before I began, I conditioned my clay with a pasta machine.

Time to play...

Supplies:
The Femmes Woman Snuggling a Cat Art Rubber Stamp , unmounted
Pasta machine for conditioning clay
Sculpey clay
Blade for slicing clay
Acrylic stamping block, large
Oven
Beacon Adhesives Fabri-Tac
Adjustable cat collar

Directions:

  • Choose colors and condition clay.

  • Stamp image on paper to use as reference.  Color if desired.
  • Start with one color and embed a small amount of the conditioned clay into the stamp, pressing firmly with your fingers.

  • Use a blade to shave off any clay that sticks up above the rubber.  It is important for this technique to not have any clay left on the surface of the stamp.

  • If clay becomes embedded in the wrong areas, use a piece of scrap clay to remove it from the stamp.

  • Continue adding small amounts of clay until the area has been filled and sliced.
  • Repeat with additional colors of clay.

  • As you work, small amounts of clay may stick to the blade and be removed during the slicing process. (Clean blade frequently to remove bits of clay sticking to it.) Patch these recesses until all areas are filled.
  • When you are finished, re-shave the entire surface of the rubber stamp to remove any visible clay from the surface of the stamp.
  • Roll out a piece of conditioned clay that is large enough to cover the filled area.
  • Place the sheet down over the stamp and tamp down very firmly with your fingers.

  • Flip the stamp and clay over onto an acrylic stamp block.
  • Bend the stamp backwards, nearly folding it in half, and slowly roll it off  of the clay.  (This is much easier if you use an unmounted stamp.) As you do this, watch carefully to see if any of the clay is stuck in the stamp. If so, simply roll the stamp back onto the clay and press the area firmly with your fingers to fuse the clay to the background. Repeat this as often as needed to be sure the clay from the recessed areas of the stamp is adhered to the background clay.
  • Continue until the entire image has been released.

  • Lightly pat down the raised clay to ensure it is adhered to the background clay.
  • Trim design as desired.
  • Carefully slide the blade under the clay to release it from the acrylic block.
  • Bake according to the manufacturer's directions.

  • Attach buckle to the back of the finished piece.

I added the buckle (it is actually an adjustable cat collar I picked up at the dollar store *giggle*) to the back of this piece so that I could use it on a little mini-album I created to hold all the cute kitty pictures I find myself taking!

This technique takes a little practice and some patience.  I think this is my third attempt at a Sutton Slice and I absolutely love the way it turned out!  If you would like to try it I suggest you start with a small and simple design first.  I covered the basics today, but there are a bunch of great videos out there with great tips.

This technique makes me look at my stamp collection in a completely different way and I am already looking for my next Sutton Slice project!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!

Just a Note

Hello there all our fellow BPM fans! Jess here today sharing with you a note card using some of those fabulous red rubber stamps!! This month, I'm going for a more masculine appeal. I just love this stamp set by Kate Leitch too! Come along, let's craft some fun pieces for the guys in our lives!

Products used:
Blank Page Muse: Seth Apter Rocky Road embossing powder
Spectrum Noir: Watercolor paper
Ranger Ink: Archival Black ink
American Crafts: Sticky Thumb - foam dots
(Shop now and save! Use code BPMDtJessica2019 to save %15 off your total order!)

Here is a fun photo of the stamp sheet I used!

You cannot tell me that this script stamp is not GORGEOUS! I just had to show it off a bit!
1. Cut your desired note card size
2. Begin by distressing the edges of your paper with a pair of scissors or other tool of your choice
3. Get out your stamp, embossing pad, and powder

4. Emboss your script stamp directly in the middle of the card
5. Heat emboss your stamped script using your heating tool
6. Stamp and cut out your images using black ink
I like leaving a very thing white line surrounding the images to make them POP.

6. Now get out your distressing tool of choice and some ink. We are getting inky!
7. Start blending from the edges inward
The idea here is to have the inner part of the note card the lightest, making the stamped images the focal point.
8. Finally, use some foam dots or cardboard pieces to mount your stamped images.

Here we are! We have our finished notecard!
Here are some close-ups for you to enjoy

Thank you for stopping by today!
We look forward to seeing you next time!

Shabby Chic Canvas

Hello and welcome! It's Graciellie posting today. This month Sin City Stamps has partnered with Gelli Arts! What a great combination of products! I've had a great time creating personalized backgrounds with Gelli Arts' Gel Plate, and adding details with SCS stamps. It's almost therapeutic the way the projects come together, and how we have no precise control of the resulting background using the Gel Plate (a truly spontaneous artistic process).

Today I want to show you a 6"x 6"
pink, gold, and silver canvas I made.

Main Supplies
Sin City Stamps:
Butterfly Mask
Chicken Wire with Butterflies Mask
Love of Butterflies Plate of Rubber
Gelli Arts 5"x 7" Gel Plate
Cotton Wood Arts 6"x 6" canvas (to be released)
Other
Crackle Embossing Paste
Palette knife
Brush
Baby wipes
Paints: Poster paint in pink and metallic acrylic paints in gold and silver
Embellishments: 2" lace, 3/8" gross grain ribbon, gold vintage buttons, Fused string pearl beads, pearls, crystals
Adhesives: Uhu all purpose adhesive, Bazic two sided tape

I layered many butterflies that I stamped, heat embossed in gold and fuzzy cut to create a 3D effect. The background was created with Gelli Arts Gel Plate. I also stenciled the canvas with crackle embossing paste, which added to the shabby chic design.

I prepared a step by step tutorial for you. Start the guide below to check it out!

I hope you like my project and tutorial! For more about the products used, click on the links added to the supply list. If you have any questions feel free to leave me a comment here or at my blog.

Sin City Stamps and Gelli Plates Backgrounds

Hello everyone, and welcome back for more Halloween fun!  I just love October because I love making anything related to Halloween.  I've always been a fan of spooky movies, and this genre is just my thing!

Today's project is a very colorful and a bit creepy card that I made using my Gelli Arts printing plate for a background, and a few of my favorite Sin City Stamps rubber sets.
While playing around with my gelli plate, I also made this same or similar background on a different color card stock to see what the difference would be.  Then I couldn't help myself.  I had to turn it into a  tag, or a card to slip into a pocket, or even used as a focal point on a card.

I have prepared a bit of a tutorial for you using Snapguide.  All you have to do is click START THE GUIDE for complete instructions.

Check out How to Use a Gelli Printing Plate for Card Making by Barbara Rankin on Snapguide.
