String Art With a Stencil

Hello! I created another project using the Blank Page Muse Pumpkin Trio Stencil.
The first card (see here)
involved using a stylus and fussy cutting.

Today's project involves using a paper piercer and stitching. I hope you like it.

I positioned the stencil on a kraft cardstock. I used the largest pumpkin for my project. I created a landscaped card so the pumpkin is on the top two thirds of the panel. Using the stencil as a guide, I poked holes on the kraft cardstock using a paper piercer.

I made sure that I poke holes on the corners of the open area of the stencil. I avoided poking holes too close to each other to avoid ripping the paper during stitching.

I used the stencil to guide me in stitching.

I used a DMC Variegated Floss to add interest to the stitched image.

I colored the stitch pumpkin with mica paint.

To add a fabric feel on the stitched panel, I ran this through my die cutting machine using a texture plate.

The sentiment was also poked using an alphabet stencil. I blended ink around the pumpkin to mute down the bright kraft cardstock. I added a strip of cardstock to the right of the panel.

What a great way to stretch this stencil! I always like it when I can create several things using a product.

Fussy Cut Stenciled Image

Hello! I am glad to be back after taking a month break from my BPM DT duties. Today's project features another creative way of using a stencil in which aside from inking on the stencil, you fussy cut the inked image to create an embellishment. Just another way to stretch those supplies.

The focal point of my card was created using the Blank Page Muse Pumpkin Trio Stencil. The stencil includes three pumpkins of different sizes. I used the largest one.

I blended an orange dye ink on an orange cardstock using the stencil. I used a darker orange ink for the ink blending. I masked the leaf and stem area of the pumpkin since I will be using another color for the stem and leaves.

Without removing the stencil, I added outlines to the blended image using a stylus. This adds a recessed outline on the image.

I used the impression created by the stylus on the back side of the cardstock as a guide to reposition the stencil. I flipped the stencil as well since I will be working on the back side of the impressed panel.

I repeated the step of using the stylus to create an outline on the pumpkin. I used the outline I created earlier as a guide. You don't have to do this step but I wanted the outlines to be raised on the inked pumpkin. I fussy cut the inked pumpkin, leaving a border around the inked image.

I repeated this process on the leaves and stem changing the colors of ink and the cardstock. If you notice, I used a brown color for the stem which I changed as I was working on the project.

To add depth to the leaves, I used the ball end of the stylus to curl the paper.

I punched a Jack o' Lantern face on the inked pumpkin. I adhered a pearl black cardstock to the back of the pumpkin to cover the holes created by the punch. I embellished the pumpkin with a twine, vellum and a clear gem. I added Ranger Glossy Accent to the face. Isn't the pumpkin cute?

For the panel, I trimmed a patterned paper at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" from a 6x6 patterned paper. Using the left over patterned paper, I ran this through my die cut machine using a die that pokes holes on paper. I added stitching to the holes on the strips.

I adhered the strips to the panel. I adhered a sentiment from a cut apart patterned paper. I adhered the pumpkin with foam adhesive.

I hope you like today's project.

Fun Faux layers with a twist

Fun Faux layers with a twist

Sue here today to show an old technique with a twist.  I call this Faux layers which I have been doing off, and on for years.

Here's a closer look at the faux layer.  The twist is using a stencil to add fun, and dimension to the technique.  With some simple masking, color blending, and a adding stencil to get this unique effect on your card.

Almost A One Layer Card

Today's project features a silhouette stamp from I Brake for Stamps. I hope you like it.

The products I used on this card are:
I used a heavy weight white A2 sized note card. I temporarily adhered the stencil to the card front. I covered the rest of the card with Post-It notes to prevent putting ink on these areas. I blended inks that are from the same color family with gradating shades. I lightly blended one color of ink over the stencil. After which, I cleaned the stencil and placed the stencil back over the card front off setting it toward the bottom right. I repeated the process until the whole panel is covered with ink blended blocks.

I bravely stamped the silhouette stamp on the bottom right of the card front. I did not get a good impression on my first try. On my second attempt, I must have moved my stamp positioner because the image was double stamped. Not to give up on this project, I stamped the image on a white cardstock. (Check my blog to know how many times it took me to get to this point.) I fussy cut the succulent and adhered it directly on top of the distorted succulent.

Just by looking at it, you would think that this is a one layer card until you have a feel of the stamped image. And since I failed making this into a one layer card, I went ahead and adhered a sentiment strip.

Playing With Embossing Paste

Hello! Welcome back to the BPM blog. So glad you are here. Today's project took some effort for me to put together. It must be the hustle bustle of life that drained most of my energy. What I do when this happens to me is look at my supplies and see if something will tickle my fancy. If there is still none, I search the web to get some ideas. How about you? How do you pull yourself out of a creative slump?

Back to the project, I am using the Blank Page Muse products below:

The stencil's size is 3" x 8". I want to capture all of the circle patterns so I cut a white cardstock using the same dimensions as the stencil. I applied white embossing paste over the stencil making sure that I apply an even coating of the paste over the stencil. I gently lifted the stencil and set aside the panel to dry. I cleaned the stencil right away using warm, soapy water. Before, I would use a brush to clean the stencil but sometimes it the brush messes up the stencil. Rubbing the stencil in between your hands like you are washing your hands seem to work in cleaning the stencil.

Once the embossing paste is dry, I sprayed the panel with different colors of spray and stain, following the order of the rainbow. I set this aside to dry. You can also heat set it to speed up the drying.

I did a second layer of embossing paste but this time, I offset the stencil to create a shadow of circles. I added embossing glitter powder to the embossing paste while it has not dried. Once the embossing paste has dried, I heated the embossing glitter powder.

I stamped the image on white cardstock using a water friendly black ink. I painted the image using the same colors I used on the panel.

I stamped the sentiment on vellum. I trimmed the words apart so I can scatter the words on the panel making sure that the order of the words is still correct.

I hope you like today's project. Please visit my blog, Maria Giselle's Creative Cuts, for more details.

Stenciled Grateful Heart Card

HELLO!   Today I am excited to share this stenciled card I created using the super cute and fun Blank Page Muse Clara & Dream Big Art Rubber Stamps designed by Magda Polakow.  As a bird momma myself I love  stamps with birdies!   and this one is adorable.  And she looks so cute on this slimline card!

Supplies needed:

Create your slimline card by cutting your white cardstock to 8.5 inches x 7 inches.  Score your card at 3.5 inches (on the 7 inch side).  These slimline card will fit into regular business sized envelopes.

Cut your coordinating cardstock slightly smaller than your card base front.

Use distress ink to ink your Hearts Stencil .  Move your stencil to ink your entire cardstock.

Just look at how the red ink pops off the pink cardstock!

Adhere the stenciled background onto your card base.

Stamp your Clara  onto white cardstock.

Color your image as desired.

Add your stamped image to your card .
Finish off with your favorite sentiment stickers.
