Storks along the highway

Can you see black looking things on the lamp post? That would be storks. They're from Zoo Negara or better known as our National Zoo which is located near the highway.Usually there'll only be about two storks but when I took this picture, they were on the lamp posts along the highway.I guess they got bored staying inside the zoo and decided to see what the humans were up too.The storks at Zoo Negara aren't locked up inside cages but let out.The storks wont fly far away though. They'll return back home by night or so.

A new sister

[Picture by Dad of Five aka my Dad]

Finally,my mum has just delivered the baby which has been in her tummy for 9 months.Alhamdulillah, praise to God,it was a girl!Mum had decided her name long before she was even born. Her name is Siti Hajar and was born on the 27th of September at 1.20 am at Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital by Dato' Dr. Ashar. When she was first born, she looked like my younger brother,Yusof. Now she looks more and more like my mum's mother.

And,I'm sorry for the no posts.I've been busy for my Final Examinations as well as babysitting Hajar.I'll try to keep posting as regularly as I can.

Theres a TV!

As you can see, there's a television in the area where women pray which is on the 1st level or ground level. The television displays the movements of the imam just in case the microphone doesn't work.Last year,I prayed at the second level and the second level didn't have a television. There was one time when the microphone didn't work and it was dreadful to keep up with the imam's movements. So far,the microphone is still working.

Performing wudhuk

This picture was taken at the surau where I usually perform my Tarawih prayers.Tarawih prayers are prayed in pairs of two and can be prayed in any even amount of raka'ah, although 8 & 20 raka'ah is what Muslims usually pray. This prayer is performed after Isyak prayers. I usually pray 8 raka'ahs. The guy in the picture arrived at the surau after Isyak prayers were finished that's why he was in a hurry to perform his wudhuk.Wudhuk is better known as ablution.

Fruit seller

The guy in the picture was selling various types of fruits which I can't recall their names. Most of them were local fruits. He used to sell roasted water chestnuts but now I see he is starting to sell fruits instead.

Happy Ramadhan Al-Mubarak to all the Muslim DP Bloggers as well as Muslim visitors.

Rooftiles

Good for you who got the correct answer. Our roof was leaking so my dad called up the contractor who renovated our house to check it out.Our house is 8 years old and the rooftiles were already damaged due to old age.The contractor went up the roof and took down a piece of the rooftile. It was literally rotten and it had fungus all over it so we have to change the whole set of rooftiles in the nearest time.

BTW,the fasting month is getting nearer!

MIA,again

I'm so sorry.I've been busy lately.

Today,I'm posting about a dental clinic at Projet.Yes,they have a dental clinic there. As you see,it's 24 hours so you can visit there any time you want. And next to the dental clinic is McDonalds so if the person has just finished an ice cream sundae and suddenly had a toothache, they could just run next door to see the dentist and if they have a tummy ache as well, they need not go farther because the dental clinic is also a clinic.I think its good to have a dental clinic and clinic next door's to McDonalds.

DP Theme Day:Street Lights and Signs

This is a typical street light or as I call it,lamp post. The lamp posts around our neighbourhood have lots of advertistments of people who offer plumbing. Sometimes when you can't put anymore advertistments, they just overlap them. The sky was clear in the early morning on the day I took this picture which was on the 31st of August. But after a while, clouds came rolling by.

Here are some other DP Blogs which are participating in today's theme day.Do check them out!
You may not be able to see some of the pictures because of the different time zones.

The Straits Times

This week, one of our local English newspapers are giving out free copies of The Straits Times newspaper during the week before our first National Day in the year 1957. The Straits Times is a Singaporean newspaper if I'm not mistaken.I've already finished reading it and I find the style they organize the article in the newspapers are different than the ones now. Very short but very informative. Can you see the price in the picture?15 cents, quite cheap.

Tomorrow is Malaysia's 50th birthday!

Merdeka spirit

Nationwide, everybody is putting the Jalur Gemilang to show their spirit to celebrate the date which is very meaningful to us all in Malaysia, our National Day.They only do this when our National Day approaches and it is only a matter of weeks before it's National Day.Sometimes I wonder when will they let our Jalur Gemilang wave in the breeze forever. All around KL,I can see that nearly all the buildings have already have a Jalur Gemilang.

Ampang Park #3

Those two teenagers were smoking. These days in Malaysia some of the teenagers are already smoking. Some of them started since 10-12 years old and continue until now.I had to take this picture quietly because I was afraid they might notice. You'll never know what they'll do to you when they notice you taking a picture of them.

Ampang Park #2

As mum looked for what she wanted at the vegetables section,I looked around to snap pictures for my DP.As I was looking,I spotted zuchinis which were in a container. It was my first time seeing a zuchini up close. All this while I've only read it in books.I think it looks like a cucumber.

What does it taste like?Is it nice?

Lontong Breakfast #4

Roti canai. One of the favourite food of Malaysian's and also tourists who visit Malaysia. The one I ate on Sunday morning was very nice.I didn't try the roti bom though. My brothers finished it.

And I just realised yesterday's post was my 100th post. Thanks to all of the people who have supported Selangor DP!

Lontong Breakfast #3

After I had finished eating,I looked for some inspirations to take a picture because I was getting bored.Coincidentally, this cat came to our table and looked up at me.It wanted to eat but unfortunately I had finished what I ate, which was roti canai. As it stared at me for a couple of seconds,I got the chance to snap a picture of it and then it turned away.I think I was very lucky on that day.

Lontong Breakfast #1

Today, right after I woke up,my dad said he was bringing us out for breakfast.Usually,I won't go because I'd rather stay at home and eat bread with St. Dalfours jam and watch televeision but today I decided to go out with them.We went to a lontong shop by the side of the road which is only about 10 minutes from home. The picture above shows lontong.Lontong is basically 'nasi impit' which is served with vegetable stew or better known here as 'Sayur Lodeh' and topeed with 'sambal' and toasted coconut or better known here as 'kerisik'.

'Nasi impit' is something like ketupat but now they have the instant ones which only require it to be boiled for a few minutes.Ketupat takes a much more longer time because you have to weave the casing and then fill it up and boil it in a very large pot. That is usually done about 1 week before Hari Raya in my 'kampung',Muar. My grand aunties, who are excellent cooks, takes ketupat orders every Hari Raya,I find their ketupat very nice especially with peanut sauce or better known as 'kuah kacang'.
