Dream house Kitchen Design

Like in most homes the kitchen really is the heart of the home & this is something that was very much on my mind when it came to planning the kitchen for the dream house.
It will be the most used room in the house so it needs to be functional, spacious, easy to keep clean but  also stylish & welcoming all at the same time.....Lets hope I am able to achieve all of the above!!!

I do apologise for the poor iphone images, I was experiencing a few technical difficulties but couldn't wait to share them with you.

Im loving the island, the space on the left is for the microwave, an appliance I can't live without, but one that I would like hidden from view.

We will be having a french door style fridge.

This image is so small its probably a waste of time putting it on here, I promise I will show you a better image of this plan when I have these issues sorted out!!!

These are the inspiration pics I gave to the Terry from

they are all from my pinterest board of course!

He then designed the kitchen that I had pictured in my head.
The concealed rangehood, small glass display cupboards above the overhead cupboards & a nice simple island for my family to sit at.
This should all compliment the rest of the dream house decor perfectly!

I am so happy with the design, I cant wait to see it built.
It goes without saying that all of the cabinetry will be white & my bench tops will be
20mm thick Quantum Quartz in Carrara
It looks very similar to Carrara marble.
I would love to have the real thing but it just isnt practical in my home. My kids spill things all of the time & because marble is so absorbant the stains would be horrendous, something I don't think I could live with, so....
I shall have to fake it.
I really don't mind though, the quantum quartz is a fantastic hard wearing product & it looks fabulous as well.
You can check out the range of colours on the website

These images are from  the Planit Kitchen gallery, as you can see the quality of their work is fantastic

I work for a building company & we only use Planit Kitchens in our homes.

Love this pantry!!

Planit Kitchens are based on The NSW Central Coast, they have a show room in Erina, look them up if you are planning a new kitchen.

I am also using these guys for my bathroom vanities & laundry fit out which I will share with you in another post.

Im looking forward to your thoughts & suggestions.

Don't forget that now google reader has gone you need to start following me with Bloglovin which is over on my side bar!

The colour is called "Ice Blue" & its going to set him back about $750.

Do you own one of these little gems & do you think they are worth the extra dollars?

What appliances are you dreaming about???

Spaces to love

I have had these images saved to my drafts for a while now & thought I should share them with you.
Prepare yourself for some divine eye candy!!!!

Decor by Jennifer Inc living room

I am seriously loving this look. I am hoping we can afford to put timber floors in the dream house & then I will work towards talking the dream guy into painting the internal doors black, I don't like my chances though, its a little to out of the ordinary for him I think!!!
Decor by Jennifer Inc closet

Is this the most incredible wardrobe you have ever seen? I love the mirror doors...

Open concept Vs Galley Kitchens, A guest post

Today is very exciting for me & my little blog as I am hosting my first ever guest blogger!
So please extend a HUGE welcome to the lovely Jennifer!!!

Hi all! I’m Jennifer and I write for Arcadian Home, a site that specializes in home decor, home accessories, and decor trends around the world. I've been writing about home decor since graduating university and have loved it ever since. I'm addicted to patterned fabrics, Jonathan Adler, chaise lounges, old doors, milk glass jars, antiques, and chandeliers. I adore A Dream House for Trish, and I'm honoured to contribute a blog to Trish's fabulous website on vastly different kitchens styles (that I equally love).

Open-concept kitchens versus galley kitchens - which one reigns supreme? Each style has its own home decor pros and cons, and when designed properly, they can each be a wonderful addition to a house. From long, functional spaces to airy sprawling eateries, here's what we love about both open-concept and galley kitchens.

Kitchen Ideas

Whitewashed spaciousness via The Lennoxx

An open-concept kitchen that occupies the entire end of a home takes full advantage of the room's configurations, with a large island in the centre that doubles as a work and eating area.

Kitchen Ideas

A mix of materials via decor8

A stylish contemporary kitchen with both stainless steel and wood works well in this open space - this is a perfect example of where a galley kitchen may falter.

Kitchen Ideas

Smart showcase via Decorpad

Instead of hiding items like charger plates and table decorations, this open-concept kitchen utilizes shelving instead of cabinetry, with three oversized pendant lights perched above an island.

Kitchen Ideas

Lovely with an L via Elle Decor

An open-concept kitchen built into the corner of a house, like this classic country cuisiniere, takes full advantage of the L-shaped layout, with high ceilings and a window that makes the view look like wall art.

Kitchen Ideas

Sunshine and lemons via Kitchen Design

Bright yellow is always a lively hue for a kitchen, and we love that this galley kitchen is open at both ends, with the entryway on one side and a double-pane window on the other.

Kitchen Ideas

Slate and purple via Beautiful Kitchens

Similar in design to the last entry, this galley kitchen opens into a backyard. The soft grey and bright fuchsia backsplash provide a striking contrast.

Kitchen Ideas

A touch of turquoise via Kitchen Design Ideas

A galley kitchen in soft tones, such as light wood, can be amped up with a colourful detail, like simple square turquoise tiles.

Kitchen Ideas

Form and function via Canadian House and Home

A galley kitchen such as this, which opens onto a casual eating area, is both functional as well as visually appealing, with modern cabinetry and frosted glass doors to add to the home decor.

More kitchens to dream about

Ive been on the hunt for the perfect kitchen ideas for my dream house.
I have collected various inspiration pics because I like a little bit of this & a little bit of that.
Of course the ones that I think are perfect are no doubt way to costly for my budget.
Most of my inspiration tends to come from American homes, where the cost of building appears to be a lot less expensive than here in Australia.

I love the range hood design & the tile splash back in this lovely kitchen. Shaker profile doors & cabinetry is a given, as well as a concealed range hood.

I love a good appliance cupboard & I am yet to decide what sort of door to use. These pocket doors are fantastic to look at.
I had a mini roller door in my last kitchen which was very practical & still looked great!

A lovely example of the roller door...

Image House & garden

I love this appliance cupboard, it appears to be a bi fold door.
The open shelving beside the range hood is a lovely finish that I could definately live with.
What do you think?

source unknown

I think this coffee making set up is Divine, I don't actually have the space to create such a lovely area in my kitchen, but, a girl can dream, cant she!!!

Image The house of turquoise

Now this kitchen is a dream come true, I love the island, the range hood, the overhead cupboards, the open shelf above the fridge & don't forget that lovely ceiling.

Oh well dreaming is free!!!

What are the must have features for your kitchen?

Do you have an appliance cupboard to conceal the everyday things, like the kettle?

Have a fabulous week everyone :)

Alfresco Dining

Here in Australia we really do have great weather for outdoor dining & a fabulous alfresco area really is a must for our dream house.
I have been on the hunt for some images to show my dream guy just what I would like to do with our alfresco area.

Wittman Deck traditional porch

Logans Hammer Building & renovating from Seattle, USA
had just what I was looking for...

Wittman Deck traditional porch

Although I would like that timber ceiling & hand rails painted white
I do love the stone fireplace surround. It would be great to have an outdoor kitchen like this , but I think something a little less extravagant will be more in our budget. A cupboard with some bench space & a built in BBQ would do the trick, don't you think?
My dream guy likes the look of stack stone used in home decor, whether it is indoors, part of the facade or even used in the landscaping, this would give him the opportunity to use that product within our house design.

Wittman Deck traditional porch

This outdoor kitchen actually has a built in fridge, freezer & sink, not to mention a flat screen tv!
I don't know, I love to escape the tv, not have it follow me outside!!!

Wittman Deck traditional porch

We will definately be having a ceiling fan as they actually keep the fly's away. You can pop your food on the table & not worry that it will be covered in flys before you blink your eyes!!!

Wittman Deck traditional porch

I'm seeing a lot of images with curtains on the outdoor area, but I don't think that is something I will use in my Alfresco design!

Have you got a fabulous outdoor dining space to enjoy & does it have a fireplace to extend its use into the chillier months?

Kitchen style

This beautiful kitchen is the work of Jennifer Brouwer, who is definately becoming one of my favourite designers

She regularly showcases her very stylish work on Houzz

My previous post was about a lovely bathroom Jennifer had designed

The contrasting island bench is a striking feature

I am really loving the shimmer on the tiles used for the backsplash, I find myself drawn to these small rectangular tiles in a lot of kitchen images of late, I think these are what I will be opting for when I build my house, not that much is happening in that department at the moment...unfortunately!

Having so much inspiration available to me thru blogging has helped me to make so many design plans for my dream home. At first it created a lot of  confusion, but now I am pretty certain about the style I love...I guess it will all come down to budget when the time comes.
Mmmmmm.....please don't let my ideas be bigger than my budget!!!!
