Atmus is a character in Tears of the Kingdom.[2]

Biography

Atmus is a Hylian who works in Lookout Landing. He can be found in front of the large Map in the Emergency Shelter, where he helps manage the deployment of the Monster-Control Crew.[3] He is an expert in Hyrule's geography, including the different peoples and settlements.[4][5]

When Link first approaches Atmus, he apologizes for not noticing him sooner, since he tends to focus on his Map.[6] He then asks Link if he is interested in his research, explaining that it comes from examining Maps while out with the Monster-Control Crew.[7] If Link asks about the peoples of Hyrule, Atmus reveals that they are the Hylians, the Rito, the Gorons, the Zora, and the Gerudo, all of whom live in their own Region and bear unique traits.[8] He also mentions the Sheikah, who are known for their wisdom.[9] Should Link ask about the settlements of Hyrule, Atmus uses his Map point out Lookout Landing, Rito Village, Gerudo Town, Goron City, Tarrey Town, Zora's Domain, Kakariko Village, Hateno Village, and Lurelin Village.[10] He then reveals that many of them have been suffering the effects of the Upheaval, and he hopes that the Monster-Control Crew will be able to help them.[11] Lastly, if Link asks about Atmus himself, Atmus explains that since he is not skilled with combat, he helps the Monster-Control Crew figure out where they should be deployed.[3] At the end of their conversation, Atmus warns Link about new types of Monsters that have been sighted.[12]

  3. 3.0 3.1 [What about you?] I work with the monster-control crew. We're tasked with protecting everyone from monsters. There's been an uptick in their population since the Upheaval. But I'm not really the most skilled in combat. So instead, I use my knowledge of the areas to help determine where we should make deployments. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  4. As such, I'm the most knowledgeable in Lookout Landing about Hyrule's various peoples and their towns and villages. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  5. I'm quite confident in my knowledge of Hyrule's people's and places. So if there's anything you're wondering about its various peoples or their towns and villages, please ask! — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  6. Hm? Oh! It's you, Link! Pardon me for being lost in my work here. This map tends to get all my attention. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  7. Are you interested in the different peoples of Hyrule and where they live? That's my entire field of study. When I'm out on a deployment with the monster-control crew, I spend hours poring over our maps. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  8. [Its various peoples?] Aside from us Hylians, there are four other peoples here in Hyrule. The Rito, the Gorons, the Zora, and the Gerudo. Each live in a different area and have their own unique traits—whether it's soaring the sky or feasting on rocks. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  9. We Hylians also live in villages that reflect our unique cultures. The Sheikah are renowned for their wisdom. In fact, our most prolific researchers are among them. The leader of Lookout Landing, Purah, is from the Sheikah tribe. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  10. [Towns and villages?] Hyrule has eight major places that its various peoples call home. Lookout Landing is located here in Central Hyrule. Up northwest of here, there's Rito Village in Hebra. Then there's Gerudo Town. That's located to the southwest in the Gerudo region. You'll find Goron City to the northeast in Eldin. Travel a bit farther east, and you'll come across Tarrey Town in Akkala. Not too far from there is Zora's Domain. That's within the Lanayru region. Continuing into southeast Hyrule, you'll come across a cluster of Hylian villages. These are within an area called Necluda. Within that cluster, you'll find Kakariko Village, where the Sheikah live. I hear the village leader is quite lovely. If you're seeking a tranquil spot, Hateno Village is worth a visit. I also hear it's become Hyrule's center of fashion! Finally, there's Lurelin Village. It's a wonderful getaway destination. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  11. Many of the aforementioned towns and villages have been deeply affected by the Upheaval. If removing even a fraction of the monsters helps soothe the peoples of Hyrule, then that's what we'll do. Our monster-control crew is on patrol each day, gathering information from everyone...everywhere. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
  12. [Goodbye.] There's been an increase in the number of unfamiliar monsters since the Upheaval, as well. Be careful out there. — Atmus (Tears of the Kingdom)
