Biography

Breath of the Wild

Nobiro is a Hylian who resides at the Kara Kara Bazaar. At all hours of the day, he can be found on the lookout post at the Kara Kara Bazaar Barracks, even sleeping on the stool nearby. While he is awake, he looks out at the Great Cliffs.

When Link first approaches Nobiro, he shares a rumor that the Sandstorm over the Great Cliffs stops for a few hours everyday, but he has never been able to witness this for himself.[4] He has heard that an ancient civilization hid their treasure in the Sandstorm.[5] Due to this, Nobiro has been waiting for an opportunity to find the treasure, though he has begun to suspect he was given a bad lead.[6] Finally turning to Link, Nobiro realizes that he does not know who he is.[7] After this, "The Eye of the Sandstorm" Shrine Quest will begin.

If Link speaks to Nobiro again, he remarks that a treasure being hidden by a Sandstorm sounds like the beginning of a good adventure.[8] He recounts that rumor that the Sandstorm stops for a few hours every day, claiming that the only times he is not watching it is when he falls asleep.[9] Once again, he turns to Link and asks who he is.[7] While Nobiro sleeps, he mutters about tomorrow being the day that the Sandstorm will stop.[10]

After Link completes the Dako Tah Shrine, the Sandstorm that concealed it will permanently disappear. Nobiro will be surprised by this and point it out to Link.[11] At night, he tries to prevent himself from sleeping by talking.[12]

Tears of the Kingdom

As part of the Monster-Control Crew, Nobiro has been tasked with guarding the interior of Hyrule Castle from thieves, due to the treasure and Weapons that are located inside.[13] He can be found in the Observation Room, and he carries a Soldier's Spear.

Nobiro can be seen looking into the Reception Room, and he compares Hyrule Castle to a maze.[14] When he sees Link, he apologizes for not noticing him, and introduces himself and his job.[15] Although he admits to being lost, Nobiro allows Link to venture inside Hyrule Castle, citing the fact that it is where he is from.[16] However, he warns Link that Monsters can still be found on the premises.[17]
