I pack with socks. The first time I did so was for a costume. I went to a costumers meet up at a con, and put together a musketeer-era costume. I wore hose under the breeches, and borrowed my brother's athletic supporter, intending to "put a sock in it." While getting dressed, I asked my brother to help me choose The Sock.

He gave me the Most Puzzled Look. "You're *wearing* socks already."

So I explained where I planned to wear the sock.

Understanding dawned across his face, and the mental gears went from 0-60.

"Oh! I see!" He grabbed a pair out of the pile. "These."

"Uh, both socks?"

"Yes." He was adamant.

"Bro, these are KNEE SOCKS."

"Yes." He nodded with finality. "You're a member of this family. Represent."

The knee socks were bulky and awkward. However, they were also hilarious. Since then, if I'm dressing masc I really only use one sock. I don't bother with an athletic supporter, either.

We went through a difficult day, there was shelling near our displacement site in Deir al-Balah. The situation here is tragic, although we survived the shelling, we did not escape hunger and the bitter cold. Food prices are very expensive, the price of a kilo of flour ranges from 6 dollar All the necessities of life are very expensive. Also, when it rains, water seeps into us and we are exposed to drowning, as happened the previous two days.

Yesterday the temperature was very low in America, it reached -11 degrees.

tbh the first step in unlearning shame for yourself is learning how to extend dignity to other people at all times. you need to hold the same standards for everyone. you're not going to be able to convince yourself that you deserve that accommodation if you don't believe everybody is deserving of it

and i mean this really applies to everything... You're never going to not feel ashamed about your music case if you spend all your time judging others'... you're never going to not feel ashamed of your appearance if you don't stop judging others appearance.. Extending compassion to yourself requires you to extend compassion to everyone unfortunately :/ If you want to hate yourself less you should hate other people less

I was thinking about how we’re all treating 2025 like it’s a magic spell, like flipping the calendar will fix everything. It reminded me of an old story about a farmer on the border between Russia and Poland. For years he didn’t know which country his land belonged to and when he finally found out it was Poland he celebrated no more brutal Russian winters. But the winters didn’t care about borders. The snow kept coming same as always and it’s the same with a new year. My family in Gaza doesn’t get a break just because the calendar changes. The hardships continue and so does the unbearable weight of not knowing. Two of my cousins were taken by the IDF a week ago, and we still don’t know where they are. Not knowing is unbearable. But even in the toughest winters people like you bring light. Every donation, every share of our story, every kind word has made the impossible feel possible. Because of you we’ve survived. So no, 2025 isn’t magic but you are. Please keep sharing and donating. You’re the reason we’re still alive and the reason we’re holding on to hope for tomorrow.

you know what I can’t stop thinking about?how the world lets some labels matter and others get ignored. holocaust survivors, everyone knows that brand right? iconic emotional powerful makes you stop and go damn but here’s the kicker palestinians? we’re survivors too. nakba survivors. oh you thought the nakba was just some event from 1948? no no no hayati, it’s still happening right now every single day so this is the term people need to start using when talking about palestinians: NAKBA SURVIVORS. not refugees, not some sad footnote in history and can we please stop even calling what happening in Gaza “ethnic cleansing”? like what are we doing here, rebranding atrocities to sound like a spring cleaning checklist? no it’s ethnic extermination. say it with me ex-ter-mi-na-tion. and yet somehow palestinians keep surviving. my family in gaza? 26 are still there, after losing too many. they wake up every day to a world that wants them gone and somehow they’re still trying to survive. but survival isn’t magic. it doesn’t just happen because they’re tough or brave or insert your inspirational buzzword of choice here. it happens because people like you give a damn and yes this is me asking you to really keep giving a damn. have you donated yet? incredible, thank you, love you forever. haven’t donated? this is your sign. thinking “but i already donated”?
