Introduction
 Robotics is the field of engineering and technology
focused on designing, constructing, operating, and
using robots.

 Robotics is concerned with the generations of

computer-controlled motions of physical objects in a
wide variety of setting .
Terminology
The term robot derives from the Czech word robota(“forced
labour”or”serf”)used by karel Capek In his play RUR .in.1920

Robots
Robot is a unit that implements this intraction with the physical
worldbased on sensor,actuators,information processing.
What is robotics…?

A robot is a programmable machine designed to perform tasks

autonomously or with minimal human intervention

Robots can range from simple devices with specific functions to

complex systems with advanced capabilities.
Robot Construction
1.Sensor
Construction: Physical devices integrated into the robot to detect
environmental data. Examples include cameras, ultrasonic
sensors, and temperature sensors.
Function: Collect information about the robot’s surroundings to
2.Actuators
guide its actions.
Construction: Mechanical devices that convert energy into
movement. Types include electric motors, servos, and pneumatic
or hydraulic actuators.
Function: Enable the robot to perform physical actions, such as
moving, lifting, or manipulating objects.
3.Control System:

Construction: The central unit of a robot, usually composed of a

microcontroller or computer that processes data and makes
decisions. This includes hardware (like processors) and software
(like control algorithms).
Function:
4.PowerInterprets
Source: sensor data and sends commands to
actuators to execute tasks.
Construction: The energy system that powers the robot, which
could be batteries, electrical connections, or other sources of
energy.
Function: Provides the necessary power for sensors, actuators,
and the control system to operate.
Robot Working
1. Principles
Programmin
g: 2. Mobility:

Principle: Robots follow

programmed instructions or Principle: Mobile robots use
algorithms that determine their various methods to navigate
behavior and decision-making their environment, such as
processes. This can be pre- wheels, tracks, or legs,
defined or adapt based on AI and depending on their design
machine learning. and purpose.

Function: Directs how the robot Function: Allows robots to

interacts with its environment move and operate in different
environments, from factory
Why is Robotics Needed…?
 Robotics is needed because:

1.Speed
2.Can work in hazardous/dangerous
3.Temperature
4.Can do repetitive task
5.Can do work with accuracy
History of Robots
The acclaimed Czech playwright Karel Capek made the first use of
the word 'robot', from the Czech word for forced labor or serf.

The word 'robotics' was first used in Runaround, a short story

published in 1942, by Isaac Asimov.

But it was not until 1956 that a real robot came into existence.
Objective
The objective of robotics is to design, build, and use robots to
perform tasks that are often repetitive, dangerous, or complex for
humans
study
Studies in robotics focus on developing technology to improve robot
functionality, efficiency, and versatility

This includes areas like robot design, control systems, artificial

intelligence, and human-robot interaction.
Visual Graphics
Visual graphics in robotics refer to visual representations used to
convey information about robots, their components, functionality, and
applications.

These graphics help to simplify complex concepts, illustrate technical

details, and make the information more engaging.
