SELECTION AND

USE OF TOOLS
AND APPS IN
TEACHING AND
LEARNING
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Identify the appropriate tools and apps used in
different aspects of teaching and learning.

Demonstrate understanding of how

different apps and tools enhance the
learning process.

Collaborate in selecting tools and apps

that would best support learning tasks.
1. What are some of
the tools or apps you
noticed in the video?
2. How do you think
these tools help in
making learning more
interesting or easier?
The use of ICT Tools can
provide a lot of possibilities
on how learners can do
something with what they
know. Teachers can therefore
employ ICT tolls in their ways
of engaging learners by
communicating,
disseminating, and
managing information.
In instruction the ICT
Tools can be used in the
following:
1. Presentation of the
lesson.
2. Demonstrating a
point.
3. Presenting a concept.
A.Using Mobile Phone
and the QR Code
- A QR code (quick response code)
is a type of 2D bar code that is
used to provide easy access to
information through a smartphone.
Example of a QR code in this
process, known as mobile tagging,
the smartphone’s owner points the
phone at a QR code and opens a
barcode reader app which works in
conjunction with the phone’s
camera.
It is a code that was created
by a Japanese corporation
Denso-Wave in 1994.
- Effectively and efficiently
connecting the physical
world with the electronic
world, QR stands for
“Quick Response”.
- It allows the readers to
decode the information at
a high rate of speed. Using

PRODUCTIVITY
TOOLS:
Microsoft Word is known for its
expansive list of features. Word
gives users the ability to change
the ribbons at the top of the
screen to best fit their needs
and customize toolbars. There
are more fonts and styles
available in Word, however, all
these options do make it a lot
less accessible to first-time
users.
PRODUCTIVITY TOOLS:
Google Docs has enough features for those
looking to type out a quick essay, but doesn’t
have nearly as many features as its rival.
Google places all of the most used buttons in
the toolbar for easy access with nowhere
near as many extra ribbons and tabs as
Word. This makes Google Docs the better
option for those who aren’t too tech-savvy,
but it doesn’t have as much variety as
Microsoft Word. Google Docs has a much
better system wherein it automatically saves
your work every couple of minutes and even
saves it as you’re working on it. Since it’s
also saved to the cloud, you can access your
documents from other devices – so long as
you’re logged into your Google account – and
make any edits and saves from there, too.

What factors should
you consider before
choosing an app for
a particular task?
Instructions:
1. Divide the class into small groups.
Assign each group a specific learning
activity (e.g., group research,
creating presentations, reviewing for
a quiz).
2. Ask each group to choose the best
tool or app that they think will help
them complete the task.
Group Tasks:
Group 1: Research on a topic and
create a shared document or
presentation. • Group 2: Prepare a
quiz to assess learning using an
online tool.
Group 3: Design a visual
representation of a topic using a
creative tool like Canva. • Group 4:

following questions:
1. What is one tool or app you learned
about today that you haven’t used

Assignment:
- Select an app they use frequently
in learning, then write a review
about its pros and cons. The review
should include: • Purpose of the
app • How it supports learning •
Potential challenges in using the
app.
