Proposed / Ongoing STP details

• The newly created Tambaram City Municipal Corporation is comprising of the following Municipalities
• Tambaram , Pallavaram,Pammal, Anakaputhur,Sembakkam
• In addition the Tambaram Corporation has also included the following 5 town panchayats and proposed to add
nearby village panchayats (15 Nos.)
• Madampakkam, Perungalathur, Peerkankaranai, Thiruneermala
• Out Chitlapakkam of the above municipalities, all except Sembakkam have got UGSS Schemes. In respect of
Sewage Treatment Plants (STP‟s) Tambaram is having an STP (SBR Technology) of 30 MLD capacity designed to
discharge the treated wastewater into Adyar River. It is proposed to have a dedicated treated water pipeline to
discharge into Adyar River. Similarly the Pammal and Anakaputhur municipalities together will have a STP (SBR
Technology) of 27 MLD capacity designed to discharge the treated wastewater into Adyar River.
• Apart from this the existing Pallavaram municipality has a UGSS designed in such a way that the sewage collected
being pumped to the CMWSSB‟s Perungudi STP (Design flow is about 28 MLD with a force main dia of 750 mm).
Therefore the Pallavaram area may be considered that sewage flows has not contributing to Adyar River.
• However the adjoining areas of Pallavaram may have nullahs / Canals receiving accidental flows or from un-
sewered pockets, these flows are intercepted / treated near the Adyar River Bank.
