MUSCULAR STRENGTH

MUSCULAR ENDURANCE

is the ability of a muscle to sustain


repeated contractions against a
resistance for an extended period of
time.
It allows you to perform sports activities
for a longer period of time without
getting tired and does not experience
Muscle-strengthening activities include
weight training and resistance training
causes the muscles to hold or contract
against force or weight.
 Weight training consists of free weights
where the resistance is provided by a
free moving object like dumbbell, barbell,
kettlebell, etc. and exercise machines
like lateral pull- down, chest press, and
the likes.
 Resistance training is an exercise using
an elastic band or body as resistance like
push-ups, curl-ups, squats, lunges, and
the likes.

Here are the basic ways to
assess muscular strength
and muscular endurance
1. 90-degree push-up (dynamic).
The purpose of this activity is to test for the
strength and endurance of the upper arm
muscles.
2. Flexed-arm support (static).
The purpose of this activity is to test the
muscular strength of the shoulder and the
upper arm.
3. Curl-up (dynamic). The purpose of this
activity is to test the abdominal muscles
strength and muscle endurance.
