CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CHALLANGE

Construction problems are all too common throughout a project’s

life cycle
 Cost Overrun
 Delays (Time Overrun)
 Inadequate Communication
 Poor planning, forecasting and budgeting and etc.
80% Overshoot In our Country Context for
52 Megaproject
52% rework
76% Cost Overrun
35% weekly workers hours spent 124%

INTRODUCTION TO BIM
BIM can appear to be many things to different peo-
ple, depending on each perspective. Some People
say;

 Fancy 3D graphics.

 Software tools ( BIM is revit, Naviswork)

 Magic cure for all the problems of the worldwide

construction industry.

 Relates it with Building only

Adopting BIM principles will be a very different propo-
sition for
each of the different sectors of AECO.

INTRODUCTION TO BIM

BIM is the process of generating and managing building data dur-

ing its life cycle.

A BIM is the digital representation of Physical and functional char-

acteristics of a building.

 What important is that BIM

o ….Is a process and not a software application
o ….Refers both graphical and non-graphical information
o …Mandates digital transfer of data between all parties and software
o …Is associated with the entire lifecycle of the building or asset, not
just the design and construction phase

Why do we want to change things?

ECO
How does BIM work?
BIM is not software rather it is a process. It is however, greatly as-
sisted by
BIM-enabled Software.

Benefits of BIM

• Beyond simple 3D geometry, BIM model incorporated detailed metadata for each component. Material
Specifications, manufacturer detail, quantities ,and more.
• BIM facilitates a collaborative working environment where different stakeholders can (Architect, Engi-
neers, Contractors and Clients) work on the same model.
• Changes made by one party is visible to all, which helps in coordinating efforts and reducing conflicts.
• BIM model can used for simulation to analyze different scenarios like energy performance, structural
analysis, lighting analysis and more
• This helps making data-driven decisions to optimize the design for performance and compliance with
regulations.

ECO’s Stance on adopting BIM Technology
 For the adoption of BIM Technology
 All the infrastructure BIM requires for its imple-
mentation is secured
1) Local Server, Cloud server
2) Design Studio with High graphics desktop
 In Collaboration with CMI our Corporation has
arranged BIM training session for 25 staff for
different discipline (Architecture, Structural
Engineers, MEP)
 Two Pilot Project is planned to be conducted
(Existing and New Building)

CASE STUDY EXAMPLES

 100 Binney St., Cambiridge, USA

Tocci Building
• 25% reduction in waste and re-work
• Virtual elimination of design coordination error
• Increased investor confidence
• 70% Claim reduction
• Direct fabrication from BIM: 0 errors, 12-16
week time saving.
