Activity 2:

1. Plants
2. It has a box-like structure and this was the cell which Robert Hooke discovered that
came from a cork of an oak bark.

1. Animals
2. It has a cell membrane that keeps all of the organelles and cytoplasm in place, but
no cell wall. Due to the lack of a solid cell wall, animal cells from the same tissue
of an animal will have different sizes and shapes under the microscope.

1. Bacteria
2. The image looks like tiny organisms which bacteria are commonly known from.

What conclusion can be drawn based from your answers above?

- To conclude, there are cells always present in all living organism and there are many
unique cells.
Elaborate
___A_______1. After viewing samples of various plants and animal tissues and some bacteria under the microscope, all samples contained cell.

___B________2. Skin cells undergoing mitosis for wound healing.

___C________3. Under the microscope, onion root tip tissue shows various cells undergoing cell division.
___B________4. Cells take in nutrients from food and carry out important functions for the body.
___B________5. Single-celled bacteria in the small intestine break down substances in food that cannot be digested, such as fiber and some
starches and sugars.

Evaluate
_____true______1. The cell is the smallest independent living unit.
_____true______2. Matthias Schleiden disproved the spontaneous generation theory.
_____true______3. Cells evolve overtime to create new cells.
_____false______4. All living organisms are composed of at least one cell.
_____true______5. Under the microscope, Robert Hooke observed cells of a living plant cell.
Reflect

What is the historical and scientific importance of the discovery of cells by Robert Hooke?

- The cell's discovery has had considerably more influence on science than Hooke could have imagined in 1665.
The discovery of the cell has led to advancements in medical technology and therapy, in addition to providing us
with a fundamental understanding of the building elements of all living species.

What have I learned?

- I learned about the first cell ever discovered and how it influenced many scientist. I also learned about the cell
theory and that cell has many form that varies from the source. Lastly, I learned about the history or the timeline
of cell theory

What are my questions regarding the topic?

- Regarding the topic my only question is if the timeline of cell theory is accurate or not and if there are things
that weren’t included in the timeline.
