TOPIC
●OBJECTIVES:
Investigate the relationship between volume and pressure. at
constant temperature.
● Explain Boyle’s Law using KMT
● Solve Problems Involving Boyle’s Law.
“Curiosity always leads to discovery.”
ACTIVITY 2: LET’S LEARN AND
DEVELOP!
ACTIVITY 2: LET’S LEARN AND
DEVELOP!
Pressure is defined as the force
applied perpendicular to the
surface of an object per unit area.

Volume refers to the amount of

space occupied by an object or
substance.

ACTIVITY 3: THE WHO?
QUESTION AND ANSWER:

● Who is Robert Boyle?

● What is stated in Boyle’s Law?
● How can you explain the relationship between pressure and
volume when it comes to constant temperature and amount of
substance of gas?
ACTIVITY NO 5: PROBLEM
SOLVING!
● If I initially have 4.0 m^3 of a gas at a pressure of 1.1 Pa,
what will the volume be if I increase the pressure to 3.4 Pa?
ACTIVITY NO 5: PROBLEM
SOLVING!
● A gas occupies 12.3 liters at a pressure of 40.0 mmHg. What is
the volume when the pressure is increased to 60.0 mmHg? (Ans.
8.2 Liter)

● If a gas at 25.0 °C occupies 3.60 liters at a pressure of 1.00 atm,

what will be its volume at a pressure of 2.50 atm? (Ans. 1.44
Liter)
APPLICATION!
● Boyle’s Law can be applied in real life situation like drinking soda in a can. When you shake a soda in a can
before opening it, you will notice that its volume will decrease for it will spill due to the increase in pressure.
● When we inhale, the diaphragm moves downward and ribs up and out, increasing the volume of the chest
cavity and thus decreasing the pressure. When we exhale the diaphragm moves upward and the ribs down and
in, decreasing the volume of the chest cavity and thus increasing the pressure.

“Love everything about life. The downs make the ups happier”(Romans 8:18)
● In life, like the principle behind Boyle’s Law. Even though we experience inversely proportional
circumstances, even if the problem increases and the self-esteem decreases. We have to be strong and never
give up. Because at the end of the day God will make something greater than what you’ve expected
LET’S WRAP UP!
● The proponent of Boyle’s Law is ___________.

● The properties of gas involved in Boyle’s Law are _______ and _______.

● The relationship of volume and pressure is ___________.

● The basic equation in Boyle’s Law: _________.

● Boyle’s Law states that, “As pressure increases, volume ________ at constant temperature and
vice versa.’’

● Volume of a gas is __________ to its pressure, when the temperature and amount of gas are
constant.
EVALUATION TIME!
Directions: Answer whether “TRUE OR FALSE”.

1. The properties of gas involved in Boyle’s Law are pressure and mass.

2. The relationship of volume and pressure is directly proportional.

3. The relationship of volume and mass is inversely proportional.

4. Volume of a gas is inversely proportional to its pressure, when the temperature and
amount of gas are constant.

5. The proponent of Boyle’s Law is Robert Hooke.

EVALUATION TIME!
Solving for 10 points:

500.0 mL of a gas is collected at 745.0 mmHg. What will the volume be

at standard pressure in L?

A gas occupies 1.56 L at 1.00 atm. What will be the volume of this gas
if the pressure becomes 3.00 atm?
