Verb that follow the normal rules of conjugation, that is, they follow a typical pattern for
changing verbs + -ed/-d.
Example:
Accept => Accepted
Except:
1. If the verbs that end with –e are changed by adding –d.
Like => Liked
Taste => Tasted
2. If the verbs that end with ‘y’ are changed to –ie.
Try => Tried
Dry => Dried
3. If a verb of single syllable ends in a vowel and a consonant, then the consonant is doubled
and –ed is added.
Stop => Stopped
Chat => Chatted
IRREGULAR VERB
Verb that don’t follow the normal of conjugation, sometimes also called strong verbs.
Example:
Eat => Ate => Eaten
Do => Did => Done
Except:
1. Verbs that remain the same in Past and Past Participle Forms
Bring => Bought => Bought
2. Verb that change only in the Past Tense
Come=> Came => Come
3. Verb that don’t change in any Tenses
Put => Put => Put
