    The major physical features found in Eastern Africa include mountains, hills, plateaus, rivers, lakes, valleys, plains, oceans, and seas. Mountains are the highest physical features and include Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. The Great Rift Valley is the largest valley, running from Mozambique through Kenya and Tanzania. There are also many islands found in the lakes and coastal waters around Eastern Africa. Physical features are divided into relief features, which are landforms, and drainage features, which include bodies of water.

     The largest valley in Eastern Africa is the
    Great Rift Valley, It runs from Jordan
    Valley to Beira in Mozambique.

    and Tanzania , and the western branch runs
    through Uganda and western Tanzania and
    joins the eastern branch in southern
    Tanzania as it extend to Malawi and
    Mozambique.
    HILLS
     Hills are higher grounds than the surrounding area , they are smaller than mountains.
     Many hills are found in different parts of Eastern Africa., There are hill even in areas
    where there are plains, plateaus, Highland areas .
     Long chain of hills forms ranges . Examples of hills forming ranges in Kenya.:
    Cherangani, Chyulu and Nyandarua Hills,
    Kipengere hills in Tanzania and Debasien in Uganda
     Some areas have issolated hills :
    Examples:
    >>Shimba Hills >>Huri Hills >>Loita Hills >>Taita Hills, Sergoit hills . In Kenya
    >>Labwor , Kigezi and Murungule Hills in Uganda.
    >> Pugu hills and Mlala Hills In Tanzania.
    ISLANDS
     An Island is apiece of land surrounded by water.
     There are several Islands found in Eastern Africa.

     Some of them are found in the major lakes in the region ,


    while others are found in the oceans, and seas.
