    Camera obscura

     5th century BCE


     Began in China
     The history of photography started
    with the discovery of camera
    obscura or a dark room and the
    observation that some substances
    are visible to light
     In this simple variant, image that is
    outside of the box is projected
    upside-down.
    Niépce Heliograph

     The photograph was made by Joseph


    Nicéphore Niépce (1765–1833)
     Made in 1827
     It is believed to be the oldest surviving
    photograph from a window of his estate
    located in Le Gras in the Burgundy region of
    France. 
     Materials use: pewter plate, dissolved light
    butimen and oil of lavender.
     Niépce's experiment led to a collaboration
    with Louis Daguerre.
    Daguerreotype

     The daguerreotype was the first


    commercially successful
    photographic process (1839-1860)
    in the history of photography.
    Named after the inventor, Louis
    Jacques Mandé Daguerre, each
    daguerreotype is a unique image
    on a silvered copper plate.

     Steven Sasson invented the


    world’s first digital camera while
    working at Eastman Kodak in

    pounds (3.6kg) and shot a mere
    0.01MP.

    and it was this design that the

    • Third Generation: Integrated Circuits (1964-1971)
    • Fourth Generation:  Microprocessors (1971-Present)
    • Fifth Generation: Artificial Intelligence (Present and Beyond)
