Science Elimination Round
MECHANICS
GENERAL MECHANICS
• There will be three rounds in the competition: Preliminary,
Elimination and Final Round.
• In case of complaints, they must be aired and settled first before
reading the next question and before declaring the winner. Only
the contestants can raise questions. Otherwise, the decision of
the quiz show committee will be final and irrevocable.
• The elimination and final rounds are highly dependent to zoom
and internet connection. In the event of internet interruption
and/or zoom disconnection, the participant will be forfeited
until he/she returns to the zoom session.
• The camera should be oriented so that your hands and the
paper you will write on is visible.
• Other provisions including policies on Raising Clarifications
and Objections on the mechanics, or the conduct of the
contests; and other relevant policies are stated in the
General Guidelines on Registration, Eligibility, and other
Information in a separate document. All contestants, coaches
and advisers are required to read to fully understand the
mechanics of MCM CUP 2021 events.
• The participant must change their displayed name to school
initial and Last Name First name (ex. MCM_Dela Cruz, Juan)
PRELIMINARY ROUND
MECHANICS
• Preliminary Round, will be done through Mentimeter. The
Top fifteen (15) participants will compete in the Elimination
Round. Participants must turn on their camera during this
round.
• The participant must change their displayed name to school
initial and Last Name First name (ex. MCM_Dela Cruz Juan)
• Mentimeter’s point system will be adopted. To ensure that
there are no tied scores, each question will give more
points to students who answer faster.

ELIMINATION ROUND
MECHANICS
• In the elimination round, the top 15 will be grouped into 5
clusters with 3 participants per cluster. The Elimination Round is
a single elimination format via Zoom. Each question will be read
once, however, participants may answer even the question is
being asked.
• Answers should be written on a short bond paper using a marker.
If the participant wishes to show his/her answer, he/she must
type “up” in the chatbox within 12 seconds after reading every
question. The first participant to type “up” will be recognized.
The answer must be shown to the camera within 6 seconds.
• In the event that the first participant’s answer is incorrect, the
second one who typed “up” has the chance to steal. Only one
steal is given per question.
• The first participant to give the correct answer will advance to
the final round.
