Petronet LNG – Dahej & Cochin
• Tank Fabricator – VTV (Tank + E&I installation + 5mtr Pipe from nozzle)

Consultant inputs required by VTV
• PDS
• MDS
• Testing requirements
• Std./specs
• Nozzle loads
• 9%Ni Plates & Foamglass supplied by IHI, other all materials sourced locally by VTV.
• Other details: Initial trial run by liquified N2. Boil-off gases compressed in BOG Compressors and
returned to Tank. 5
Lessons Learned
• Submerged pump installed inside tank and prior to commissioning N2 purging was to be done to
maintain required pressure. BOP got delayed and so separate arrangement made for N2 purging.
There was N2 leakage in the temporary system and pump column got corroded. US based
vendor had to visit site 3-4 times for overhauling of pump.
• Change management – Material changes after receipt at site.
• Air lifting of tank roof is very critical activity, requiring lot of planning.
• Continuous/seamless coordination required between VTV (Tank fabricator) and Afcons (Civil
Contractor) during site execution. Many instances VTV had to wait for Afcons to complete and
vice versa.
