Anselm Kiefer Born 1945 in Germany.

These landscapes are very abstract – despite this the artist has been able to
create a sense of depth.
HOW?
PERSPECTIVE MODULE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

• To learn what perspective is and how it works and use correct

vocab
• To be able to recognise where there are lines of perspective in
subject matter or in images
• Awareness of discovery of perspective and how artists have used
perspective in their own work
• To be able to draw using lines of perspective

Definition of perspective:
• a technique of depicting volumes and spatial relationships on
a flat surface.
• Perspective is an art theory that has been used for centuries to create a three dimensional art
on a flat surface.  Perspective has several type.

Laws of perspective most obviously take place where straight

lines recede or go away from you
One-point perspective
• All parallel lines
receding away
from the observer
meet at a
‘vanishing point’
on a horizon.

The horizon line explained
1) One point perspective: where their is one vanishing point on the horizon line.
How to draw one-point perspective.
• Draw a horizontal line across the

Note how the lines of the

converge at a vanishing point

example of one-point
perspective draws the viewers
eye downward toward the
point of convergence and right
to the main subject, the body
of Christ.
