The text discusses five main types of evidence that support the theory of evolution: fossils, comparative anatomy, comparative embryology, biogeography, and molecular biology. Each is described and examples are provided.

The five main types of evidence for evolution discussed are fossils, comparative anatomy, comparative embryology, biogeography, and molecular biology.

Comparative anatomy provides evidence for evolution by comparing the structures of different organisms and showing how structures in common ancestors have changed or remained similar over time in descendants. Homologous structures show common ancestry.

INSTRUCTIONS
1.  You will research the following:
•Fossils
•Comparative Anatomy
•Comparative Embryology
•Biogeography
•Molecular Biology
2. Your project should include descriptions of each as well as two examples.
4. Be sure that your project:
•is your own work and all text is written in your own words
•includes citations of all resources used for your research
•is presented in a way that is neat, organized, and clear
•complete sentences should be used in all written descriptions and explanations

Fossils
THIS IS A FOSSIL OF AN ANCIENT FISH YOU COULD SEE
WHERE THE FISH HAD LITTLE HANDS AND THE MODERN
DESCRIPTION FISH DOES NOT.

Fossils are remains or traces of

ancient organisms that are not
organisms themselves but rocks.
Preserved remains become fossils
after about 10,000 years. Fossils
can be microscopic or humongous.
Comparative Anatomy
THIS IMAGE IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOMOLOGOUS STRUCTURE WHICH
DESCRIPTION COMPARES THE ANATOMY OF THE ORGANISMS. THESE ORGANISMS
HAVE SIMILAR BODY PARTS BUT HAVE DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS.

In my opinion, comparative anatomy

is when two organisms with a
common ancestor are compared to one
another to show changes or
similarities or structures which refers
to homologous structures.
Comparative Embryology
THIS EXAMPLE SHOWS FOUR DIFFERENT ORGANISMS'
DESCRIPTION EMBRYO BEING COMPARED TO ONE ANOTHER AND ARE
LIKELY DERIVED FROM A COMMON ANCESTOR.
Another example is how humans are also
in my opinion, comparative closely related to other organisms but have
different functions for similar body parts
embryology is when infants of
different organisms are compared to
one another to see similarities and
differences. With the development of
technology scientist were able to see
these closely related embryos develop.
Biogeography
IN THIS IMAGE IT SHOWS HOW THE CONTINENTS STARTED
DESCRIPTION TO DRIFT APART AND THE SPECIES OF PLANTS AND
ANIMALS GOT SEPARATED AND ENDED UP ADAPTING TO
THEIR SURROUNDINGS THAT IS WHY PENGUINS IN THE

of organisms. In my opinion,
biogeography is the study of similar
ancient organisms and or modern
organisms in different continents. Which
also led to the theory of continental drift,
saying that all the continents where once a
super continent.
Molecular Biology
THIS IMAGE IS AND EXAMPLE OF THE SAME GENE
DESCRIPTION TRANSLATION WITH OTHER ORGANISMS .

In my opinion molecular biology is the

study of evolution through DNA or
genes.
