Social Analysis Method


✘ Social analysis is the practice of
systematically examining a social problem,
issue or trend, often with the aim of
prompting changes in the situation being
analyzed.

✘ Speaks of burning issues and realities in the
community.
✘ Usually a group effort since issues and
realities also affect other members of your
community.
✘ Also referred to as a situationer.

characteristics

social justice of a society.
✘ The analysis touches on individuals,
government, economies, groups and
environments

particularly large-scale developments such as
urbanization, ethnic cultures, migration of
people and identity formation.

arrangements and social divisions are also
investigated.

economic activities of a society and how
these affect the general quality of life.

✘ Earnings determine ability to afford good
health care and nutrition capacity to buy
certain goods and services and leisure
activities.
✘ An evaluation to a community such as health
education, water and sanitation is useful in
planning social analysis.
2. Characteristics

1. It ensures the collection of first-hand information


and collect authentic samples of evidences.

2. It is a way of teaching where students could


observed the natural environment rather than in
artificial classroom condition.

3. Students are provided meaningful experiences.

4. Undertaking a group activity outside wherein


students are observed to be so full of energy and
feeling so free, cultivates a strong sense of
responsibility, proper behavior and decorum.

5. It enhances one skill in organizing data and


information gathered from the field and presenting
them in an orderly and accurate manner.

6. Going out into community initially motivates the


students to be active and observant, giving vent to
their innate curiosity and interest in what is
happening or anything new in their surroundings.

7. This methodology brings the school close to the


community.
3. Limitations

1. In the absence of any preparation or guides before


undertaking the trip may result in irrelevant
observations and wastage of time and effort.

2. Lack of practice in organizing data may result into


failure.

3. There are hazards in traveling outside the campus.

4. Proper planning and preparation can be time


consuming.

5. Unclear objectives and inadequate information


make it difficult to reach the learning objectives.
4. Suggestions/Recommendations

1. The objectives of the task must be discussed with


the students in order to focus their attention.
Distractions that may be caused by irrelevant
conditions will be avoided.

2. Provide some guide questions and reminders about


their note-taking skills will be of great help in
organizing and summarizing information later.

3. Assign leaders if possible who will be responsible


for their conduct especially during transfer from one
place to another.

4. Remind them to be courteous and respectful when


meeting with authorities or with any people. Express
gratitude or write a letter of thanks later.

5. The whole class should analyze the data or


information gathered from the community, both from
the standpoint of the lesson’s objectives as well as
their personal satisfaction or enjoyment. An essay
expressing their positive and negative experiences
could form an evaluation. Encourage them to offer
suggestions to improve the community.
