WRITTEN LAW
 These are rules of law those have been reduced into a
written form.
 Example; constitution

 They are embodied in a formal document.


UNWRITTEN LAW
 These are rules of law that have not been reduced into
written form.
 There existence must be proven.

 Based upon custom, usage, and judicial decisions. It is


distinguished from the enactments of a legislature, orders
or decrees in writing.
NATIONAL LAW
 These are rules of law operational within the boundaries
of the country.
 A rule that has been establish in a nation, and the law
was accepted as rule for all the citizens of the nations
and for all people from other nations who were residing
in this area of jurisdiction.
INTERNATIONAL LAW
 It is a body of rules that regulates relations between
countries/states and other international person.
 Example ; United Nations

 Promote peace, justice, common interest and trades


PUBLIC LAW
 Concerned with the constitutions and functions of the
various organ of government including local authorities,
their relation with each other and citizens.
 Comprises constitutional law, administrative law,
criminal law as well as procedural law.
PRIVATE LAW
 Concerned with day to day transaction of legal
relationship between persons.
 Consist of those fields and branches of law in which the
state has no direct interest as sovereign.
 Example ; laws of contracts, law of property, law of
succession.
CRIMINAL LAW
 Refers to federal and state laws that make certain
behavior illegal and punishable by imprisonment and/or
fines.
 It has been defined as the law of crimes.

 CRIME- an act or omission committed or omitted in


violation of public law
Example. Murder, robbery, theft
CIVIL LAW
 It is a body of rules that defines and protects the private
rights of citizens, offers remedies that may be sought in a
dispute and covers areas of law such as contracts, torts,
property,
