QUARTER 1
Pat’s Reward
By Rea B. Mejica

There was once a young man named Pat.

He owned a small pub. Men and ladies hold
parties in his pub.
One day, an old lady came. She had a pin
on her hair. She ordered sausages on a pan.
People laughed. They tried to pun her out of
the pub. But Pat took side with the old lady.
He brought her sausages on a pan.
Thankful, she handed Pat a package of
magical pen.
Mom and Her Magical Mop
By Mona Liza P. Perartilla

Mom has a magical mop. Believe it or not, her mop can clean
anything it touches! A trace of mud here, a spill of water there,
even a group of mad boys fighting over a mag and a bunch of
toys.

One fine morning, mom heard the little ladies crying.

“Aaaahhh! Leaping lice!”, May shouted. “Eeeehhh! Munching
mice!”, exclaimed Mona. Mom raised her magical mop, waved it,
then uttered some magic word— “MOPPER POWER!” The room
was clean in a moment. No more lice. No more mice. “Thank
you, mom,” said the merry little girls.

They hugged and thought of making their mom proud by

studying hard. If mom’s mop has magic then books have powers,
too. They can make dreams come true.
Bim's Wishes
By Lorna A. Cordova

Bim got out of her bed and was looking out of her window
thinking of the magic pen she dreamt of. But she saw her mother
pulling some grasses in the garden.
“Mother, can I help, too?,” asked Bim. “Please water the plants
Bim,” mother said. “Oh! Mother look! A bud is coming out of your
tomatoes! The eggplants are growing fast too!,” Bim exclaimed.
“ If I have the magic pen, I wish that the tomatoes will grow big
and healthy. I wish bugs won't come near them. I wish animals
hiding behind the bushes won't harm them too.”
“I hope all your wishes will come true Bim”, mother said.
The King’s Knight
By: Rosevic M. Querubin

Once upon a time, there lived a generous and kind-hearted king
named Kim. But the people weren’t happy with their king because the he
was very lazy and would not want to do anything other than eating and
sleeping.
He spent days and even months in his bed eating and
sleeping. The king grew very fat and people started to worry about the king.
One day, the king found out that he couldn’t even move his body not
even his foot. He became very fat and his enemies made fun of him calling
him “fatty king Kim”, and bulky king Kim.
The king called the best doctors from different places and
offered them rewards to make him fit. Unfortunately, no amount of money
and everything can make him slim and fit.
One fine morning, a knight named Keigh visited the palace. He
heard about the situation of the king and informed the high officer at the
palace that he could easily cure the king. Hearing these words, the officer
became very happy. He asked the king to meet the knight to get rid of his
problem.
The knight lived in a far away place. Since the king could not
move his body, he asked the officer to bring the knight to the palace,
but the knight refused. He said that the king had to go to him in
order to be treated.
After the effort of the king to meet the knight at his
house, the knight praised the king. saying that he was a good ruler
and would soon regain his health. He asked the king to come for his
treatment the next day. He also told the king that the king would be
treated only if he can come on foot to the knight’s house.
The king was unable to walk even few steps on the road
but by the help of his servants, he reached the knight’s place.
Unfortunately, the knight was not there and his kins requested the
king to come and meet the next day for treatment.
This was repeated for two weeks and the king never met the
knight and never had any treatment.
Gradually, the king realized that he felt a lot lighter; he
lost a lot of weight and felt more active than before. He realized
the reason why the knight asked him to reach his place by
walking.
Very soon, the king regained his health and the people
were very happy in his kingdom.
The Magical Fishing Rod
By Dirkie M. Rufin

Ram was granted a magical fishing rod that has red and gold lining along its rim.
It has a ring on the edge instead of a hook. Ram liked to fish with it in any rad
day.
One day, he brought his friend Rob with him. Ram told Rob that his
magical fishing rod made the water clear and clean and they would see lots of
treasure under the sea.
Ram warned, “We need to learn to be a good fishermen and caretakers of
the sea before we can get the treasure.”
We should tell people not to throw trash in the sea, especially those that would
not rot.
But Rob’s mind thought of something else. He dreamt of being rich. He
would live in big mansion and would not live like rat.
Ram threw the end of the rod in the water and lo! Behold, they could see
the beautiful coral reef filled with fish in different colors. They saw the treasure.
Rob ran and dove in the water to get the treasure but a big octopus swam after
him. Its tentacles tried to reach and ripped Rob but he hid behind the rocks.
Ram threw the magical fishing rod and saved Rob. The
octopus took the magical fishing rod and swam away.
“I am sorry, Ram. I should have listened to you. Now,
we lost our very chance to get rich,” Rob cried.
“Don’t worry, Rob,” Ram said. “The most important
thing is that you’re alive.”
They continued to be good friends and grew up to be
fishermen and caretakers of the ocean. They lived with their
families in descent homes with a good source of living even
without the help of the magical fishing rod.

A Fruitful Day in School
By Kitchie G. Totisano

It was Monday. Ben woke up early and was excited to go to

school.
“Mom, I shouldn't be late for school today. I don't want to
miss the story our teacher will be telling us,” Ben told his
mother as he was in a hurry packing his things. “She
promised to tell us another beautiful story in our English
subject,” he added.
“I love you, my son. Be careful in your way to school. Bye!”
his mother said.
“Bye, Mom. I love you, too!” he said as he waved his hand.
Ben arrived early to school. He went to his seat and got
himself ready.
“Good morning class!” their teacher said.
“Good morning, Ma'am,” the pupils replied happily.
“As promised, I will tell you a story,” the teacher started as she
smiled in front of her pupils. “The title of the story is “ My Precious
Gems,” she added.
The pupils sat properly and listened attentively as she
continued.
“Long time ago, in a mysterious forest, lived a pretty fairy named
Noun. She had two pet rabbits named Singular and Plural.
One day, as Singular and Plural walked through the forest, they
saw a guy with a gin in his hand. He was drunk! He pulled his gun
out of his pocket when he saw the rabbits.
“Alas! There you are fat rabbits. You will be enough for my
dinner tonight, haha!” said the guy as he pointed the gun to
Singular and Plural.
“Please, don't kill us,' begged Singular and Plural. We can be
your guide so you won't be lost in the forest,” they added.
“Oh, my God! You, two, are talking,” he said while thinking of
something bad to the rabbits.
Bang! Bang! Went the sound of a gun as Singular was hit in a
leg and fell to the ground.
“Aha! I will bring you home. I will barter you in exchange of
money and a house and lot,” said the guy excitedly.
Luckily, Plural survived!. She ran as fast as she could to tell
the incident to Noun. As soon as possible, they left to rescue
Singular. Lo! They saw Singular and the guy in the middle of the
forest. Though there was a gap between them, they still came to
save Singular.
“Stop!”, Noun said angrily as she raised her magic wand. “I
will punish you for doing this to my precious gem!”
Before everything came to an end, the guy kneeled and
begged forgiveness to the fairy.
“I'm sorry. I promise not to do it ever again,” pleaded the
guy.
The fairy accepted his plea but in one condition. He would
guess the words Plural was hiding as Singular was showing
hers.
“Do you think the guy will accept the challenge?” asked the
teacher.
“Yes, Ma'am.” Ben answered.
“If you were the guy in the story, would you guess the
words Plural were hiding?” the teacher continued as she
challenged her pupils.
The pupils guessed the plural forms to each singular forms
being shown. The pupils enjoyed so much. They learned a lot
from the story.
“Wow! Today is definitely a fruitful day in school,' said Ben.
The Magical Wand
By Khrystyne Mae L. Aguilar

“Hey! Wait for me!” Harry yelled as he came running to her sister in
the beach. They were picking up some trash on the shores. When they
got tired, they went to a hut and saw a gold wand. When they got it, a
beautiful fairy hopped in and said, “Oh! Thank you for finding my
magical wand. I have been looking for this for a long time. As a reward, I
will grant you a wish. Just call my name and I’ll be there.”

At first, they were shocked on what they saw and heard, however, they
were very excited to make their wish. They talked to each other and
decided to make that one very special wish.

“Fairy, where are you?” called Harry’s sister.

The fairy appeared holding a plate with a hot ham. “Oh, sorry for calling
you in the middle of somewhere but we made a decision. We already
have one special wish.”, said Harry.
“No problem. What is your wish then?”, asked the fairy.
“Since we love to swim and we go to the different beaches every
summer, and we always see trash along the shores that can ruin the
houses of different species in the ocean so, before going to swim, our
parents would like us to learn how to help our environment by picking
some trash along the shores. We just really want to make it clean as
before. And our wish is to make all our oceans clean!” explained
Harry.

“Is that final?” asked Fairy.

“Yes, it is!” uttered by the siblings.
“Wish a wish a wish, wish, wish--- all shores and oceans be as
clean as new. Here we go!” exclaimed by the fairy.
In just a split of a second, everything in the beach was so perfect.
No garbage. The air smelled fresh. Fishes were hanging on the shores
and some jumped for joy.
Since then, Harry and his family became so happy and they’d been
advocate in taking care of the oceans. They spread awareness through
posting on social media and making vlogs about it.
