Industrial Revolution

Ivette Fernández – Camila Leal

What an is Industrial Revolution?
The Industrial Revolution was a process in
which an agrarian economy was changed to
one dominated by industry and machine
manufacturing. This process began in Great
Britain in the 18th century and later spread to
other parts of the world.

First industrial revolution
In the period from 1760 to 1830, the Industrial Revolution
escalated to Britain. Conscious of their advantage, the British
banned the export of machines, workers and manufacturing
techniques

The British monopoly could not last forever, mainly because some
Britons saw favorable industrial opportunities abroad, while
continental European entrepreneurs tried to attract British
knowledge to their countries. Two Englishmen, William and John
Cockerill, brought the Industrial Revolution to Belgium by
developing mechanical workshops in Liege
and Belgium became the first country in continental Europe to
change economically.

Second industrial revolution

Despite opposition to the old, there

were more and more causes for a new
Industrial Revolution in the late 19th
and 20th centuries. The main changes
were the arrival of steel, electricity, oil
and plastic derivatives.

Causes of the industrial revolution
● Parliamentary Monarchy: A division of powers arrives, which gives the individual
freedom and legal security necessary for the business class to be born outside the State.
● International trade: English naval capacity placed them in world trade, opening markets
where the mass production that this revolution would bring would find consumers.

Industrial revolution in
Latin America
In general measures, rather than the industrial revolution, the process of
industrialization must be named, which was very slow. The European
industrial revolution configured an economy to favor Europe of food
products and raw materials and turned these countries into consumers of
goods that came from Europe, which destroyed the indigenous industry.
Despite everything, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, etc., from the mid-
nineteenth century developed a nascent industry, interrupted in the
thirties, and restarted during the Second World War. However, its
development was characterized by dependence on foreign capital and
international monopolies.
