COUGAR
The cougar is a large felid of the subfamily . It is native to the
Americas. Its range spans from the Canadian Yukon to the
southern Andes in South America, and is the widest of any
large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere
Why are cougars endangered?
Most of these cougars were killed in the 1800s as the result of
European immigrants clearing forests. Those immigrants also
killed the animals out of concern that the large predators
would hunt livestock.

ORANGUTANS
The orangutans are three extant species of great apes native to Indonesia
and Malaysia. Orangutans are currently found in the rainforests of Borneo
and Sumatra. they ranged throughout Southeast Asia and South China.
They are also found in India.
Why are orangutans endangered?
This intelligent creature is endangered primarily due to habitat destruction
for palm oil plants. The illegal wildlife trade captures young orangutans and
kills their mothers, leading to decreased numbers. Illegal poaching and
conflicts with humans are also contributing to their endangerment.

VAQUITA
The vaquita are found in Gulf of California. Averaging 150 cm or 140
cm in length. Today, the species is on the brink of extinction. Recent
research estimates the population at fewer than 19 individuals.
Why are vaquitas so endangered?
illegal fishing practices are the main drivers pushing vaquita to
extinction, particularly due to by catch from illegal
fishing. Vaquitas share waters with the much sought-after totoaba fish
and fishing nets.

• Steller sea lions, the largest of the eared seals, were first added to
the Endangered Species List in 1990 because of steep declines in their
population; humans who felt the animals were eating their fishing catch

PANGOLIN
• Pangolins are mammals. The one extant family, comprises the
four species found in Asia. These species range in size from
30 to 100 cm. they are less in the world but some of them are
found in India also.
• Why are pangolins endangered?
• Pangolins are often highly hunted. They are hunted because
of their skin, scales, meat, and some of their body parts are
used in making traditional medicine.

The common quail, or European quail, is a small ground-nesting game bird of
the pheasant family. With its characteristic call of "wet my lips", this species of
quail is more often heard than seen
