SPIRITUALITY
• is one’s integrative view of life. It involves
a quest for the meaning and ultimate
value of life as opposed to an
instrumentalist or materialistic attitude to
life.
SPIRITUALITY
• From social scientific perspective, it refers
to the alternative forms of approaching the
divine that are not typically associated
with organized religion
THEOLOGY
• the study of the nature of God and religious
belief
• A discipline that has a systematic way of
studying the divine, its attributes, activities, and
involvement in human affairs and nature as a
whole.
PHILOSOPHY OF RELIGION
• philosophical study of the meaning and
nature of religion. It analyses of religion
concepts, beliefs, terms, arguments, etc.
ELEMENTS OF RELIGION
(a)reflects an effort to elevate their self to a
higher dimension of existence
(b)a framework of transcendent belief
(c)text or scriptures
(d)rituals
(e)sacred spaces ( example: church, temple,
mosque)
Monistic – “All is one”
Polytheistic – Many Gods
Monotheistic – One God
Atheistic – No God
ELEMENTS OF SPIRITUALITY
(a) holistic (fully integrated view of life)
(b) quest for meaning ( including purpose of life)
(c) quest for the sacred (beliefs about God)
(d) suggests a self-reflective existence
