GAS TURBINE POWER PLANT
Gas turbine (Open cycle)

It works on the Brayton Cycle,

• The air compressor takes the atmospheric air and it compresses the air to high pressure
by using the power developed by its turbine, however the initial power to start the
compressor is given from external source.
• With high pressure the air enter into combustion chamber then fuel is injected into air,
after complete mixture of air and fuel, the charge is ignited. The gases expand with high
pressure.
• The high pressure gases expands in turbine and it gives its high pressure energy to rotate
the blades of turbine. Thus the mechanical energy is produced.
• The exhaust gases are released into atmosphere. The cycle repeats.

 The air firstly enters evaporative cooling which increases the density of air.
 Then the air is filtered to pass through compressor, combustion chamber in
a high velocity free of dust and droplet (for preventing corrosion).
 The exhaust gas followed through heat exchanger.
 The gas turbine is connected with heat exchanger arrangement which acts
as condenser for first or topping cycle and boiler for bottoming cycle.
 The exhaust passes through chimney making water superheated steam used
for bottoming cycle.
 The heat exchanger connected with steam turbine from which generator 2 is
made up and cogeneration plant is also run with the help of steam turbine.

 The steam passed through condenser where cooling tower is set up for
evaporative cooling and the low temperature water is then pumped to
boiler where raw water is supplied by WATER TREATMENT PLANT
and the cogeneration plant used water is also recycled through it.

 Generator 1 & 2 accumulated in sub station unit.
