SYNOPSIS
•INTRODUCTION :
“SPIRITUALLY SUSTAINABLE AGRHARA”
The ancient name of AGRAHARA “CHATUREVEDIMANGALAMS”.
The name literally mean ‘A garland of house’ . To the religious
purposes , particularly to Brahmin to maintain temple in the
land, to live their family.

Where we could go back to our tradition.
Structure embedded with nature.
People gain the positive cosmic energy [Temple].
It has a Minimalist structure.
It is Organic and Healthiest structure.

HISTORY
An AGRAHARA or AGRAHARAM was a grant of land and royal income from it,
typically by a king or a noble family, to religious
purposes.
PURAMTHIMA:
The long corridor/verandah running in front of the Agrahara. This
space also acted as a community gathering place where the men
assemble for religious discourse.
AKAMTHINNA:
The small room next to Puramthinna ,this room incorporates the
Konippadi leading to the upper storey.
REZHI:
This is the central room in an Agrahara which acts as the
living/bedroom ,the important religious ceremonies and rituals
associated with the Brahmin community are also performed in the
place.

•Terracotta tiled roof
•Stone/Woos pillars
•Teak columns
•Marble and stone floors.
•Nilakanteswara Temple :
The one outer wall f temple is decorated and by various stories from
Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Bhagawath. During 1989 temples shr
-ine was broken due to heavy rain. However same is Re-established
in 1990. The entrance also well decorated and Jaya and Vijayac statu
-es are here on both entrance. The temple is Example of Dravidian
Style which is really worthy see able.
