•2800 low-income families or a population of about 18000 obtained shelter through self-help and
incremental development.
•Government agency's role changed to that of a facilitator and supporter of a shelter programme.
•The low-income families organized themselves to develop infrastructure incrementally without
obtaining loans from conventional financial organizations.
•About 3000 low-income plots saved from land speculators and land grabbers.
•About 600 jobs created in the cottage industry (carpet looms) developed in the houses of KKB.

•No Rigid Or Conventional Planning Or Building Regulations Are Applied.
•The Structure Can Be Improved, Modified Or Extended As Financial Capability Of Family Improves.

The Development Of Services Is Undertaken By Skilled Labour From The Community, Which Insures Better
Workmanship And Provides Jobs Opportunities For Residents.
Maximum Encouragement Is Provided To Residents To Provide Services And Utilities For Their Home And Do It
Yourself Basis, Particularly For Sanitation, Garbage Disposal And Even Road Building.
A Network Of 49,500 Ft Of Water Supply Lines 18,850 Ft. Sewer Lines And 13500 Of Electricity Lines.
Educational Facilities- 23 Schools Of Various Levels Are Already In Function With 872 Students And 43 Teachers.
Health Facilities- In The Area 5 Private Doctors, 2 Clinics, 5 Para-professionals, 3 Mobile Clinics And 2 Ambulance.
