    Athena’s Story of Birth
    With an interesting goddess comes an interesting backstory. The goddess Athena wasn’t born
    as normal children were.

    The Greek God Hephaestus opened Zeus’s head open with an axe, and Athena stepped out,

    casually as ever, created from Zeus’s thoughts, in full armor .


    Athena’s Abilities
    Abilities involved intelligence, incredible strength, agility, wisdom, stamina, and immortality,
    something all Gods and Goddesses had, though she was unable to reach adulthood.

    Her brother Ares was also the God of War, they were able work together and achieve many
    great victories. Most of the times she would win a lot of the battles, other times she would
    not.

    And of course, with every powerful goddess comes a weakness. Athena was too confident in
    herself, and never gave up. This, of course, will also involve consequences. She was very
    focused on her war tactics and behavior, and hardly was in touch with her feminine side
    and emotional side.
    Relationship to Other Gods/Goddesses (Family Tree)
    Athena is related to many gods and goddesses.

    She is the daughter of Zeus and Metis and to specify, Zeus is the father and Metis, the
    mother. Hera was rumoured to be the mother, but it was, quite surprisingly, Metis, nobody
    heard about her because Zeus swallowed her. Because it was foretold that Metis would give
    birth to incredibly powerful children, Athena and one which would overpower Zeus himself,
    Zeus tricked Metis into turning herself into a fly and therefore, swallowed her. But by the
    time he did, it was too late, for Athena was then born.

    Athena has 15 siblings, known as Artemis, Aphrodite, the Muses, the Graces, Ares, Apollo,
    Dionysus, Hebe, and Hermes. But wait, there’s more, known as Hercules, Helen of Troy,
    Hephaestus, Minos, Perseus, and Porus.
    Major Myths Associated with the Gods and Goddesses
    There are many different myths in the world of Gods and Goddesses. One example is the
    myth about Athena’s birth. Greeks believed that she had come out as a girl from Zeus’s head,
    wearing her armor and looking more warlike than any other Goddess. It was later
    discovered that she was almost always successful in her battles, and very masculine rather
    than feminine.

    Athena’s sacred animal would be the snake, the reptile engraved on her statue. Her other
    animal would be the owl, because of its victory, watchfulness and wiseness.

    The plant is the olive tree, which relates to the gift given to the first king of Athens. Legend
    has it that when the city of Athens was burnt, all that survived was a single leaf on the
    olive tree. This made the Athenians believe that Athena had not abandoned them, and
    therefore the Athenians rebuilt their city with hope.
