Evaluation of final product
By Steven Walton 1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions, of real media products?
• The genre we have chosen to use for our media product is
romantic comedy. There are many different codes and conventions that are common in this type of genre, such as having a male and female couple as the lead characters. In our media product, the couple is played by Emma Apted and Alex Mogaji. Another conventions that is shown in our media piece is the basic plot line for all romantic comedies. All romantic comedies have a storyline in which romantic comedy is that two people meet usually a male and female. They argue with each other despite being attracted to each other. The two characters don't realise their feelings for one another until the end of the movie. 2. How does you product represent particular social groups?
• The way in which our media piece represents particular
social groups is the clothes in which the characters are wearing. The two individuals are wearing ‘up-to-date’ fashionable clothes. Also the use of technology that is shown in the clip like the mobile phones. This represents a younger social group. 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your product and why?
• The type of media institution that may distribute our product
would be a well known distribution company such as Touch Stone and Studio Canal. The reason for this is because both these distribution companies are well known for distribution romantic comedies to universal audience. This means that the film will reach a larger audience and it will increase the popularity of the film. Another institution who would distribute our media product would be Film 4 because they take special interest in distribution low- budget movies such as ours. 4. Who would be the audience for the media piece?
• The target audience for our media piece is teenagers
between the ages of 13-18. The reason for this is because our questionnaire was answered and targeted at this type of audience. This movie would be targeted at couples because of the romance portrayed. 5. How did you attract/address your audience?
• The way in which we attracted / address our audience is by
using actors within a specific age group. This will attract a younger audience. Another way in which we attracted our audience is to use up-beat music and the titling used, helps establish the genre of the media piece. 6. What have you’re learnt about technologies from the process of constructing your product?
• The things I have learned through the construction of my
final product are how to add and edit different shots using the Apple Macs. I also learned how to add sound and titling to the different shots I used in my construction. Another technique I have learned to do is the use of the camera and a microphone to help with the construction of my media product. The final thing I learned from the construction of my media product is how transfer my product onto a DVD using I DVD on the Apple Mac. 7. Looking at your preliminary task, what do you feel that you have learned in the progression from it to the final product?
• The techniques I have learned the from the progression of
the preliminary task to the final product are how import and edit different shots for the final product using an Apple Mac. Also how to insert different themes, music and tilting into the final product.
