Aim:
To present the how to give
simple and clear instructions
and their importance.
Discussion Questions!
1. Why is it important for Ts to give clear
instructions?
2. Why is it important to give instructions in
English?
3- Should a teacher give instructions in Khmer?
Possible Answers
1- It is important for Ts to give clear instructions because Ss
need to understand what to do.
2- It is important to be in English because this gives Ss
regular practice in hearing and understanding English.
3- A T should always try to give instructions in English.
However, if some Ss do not understand, the T can use
English to ask one of the better Ss to repeat the instruction in
Khmer.

Common instructions are: Everybody, All
together, Again, Try again, Look ( at the
picture), Listen, Repeat, Tell me, Stand

Be Decisive.
Use a signal, like the word Right or
Listen.
For example:
1-Say something like Everyone Start !
perhaps accompany by a downward
hand gesture or a clap of your hands.
2- T. shop assistants, hands up.
Now customers, hands up.

1- Plan what you are going to say and when you
are going to say it before the lesson
2- Use simple English
3- Use short sentences
4- Give one instruction at a time
5- Show the Ss what to do. Do not just tell them.
6- Check the Ss understand the instruction
