What are some mobile devices that have LCD screens?
Factors Affect the Quality of an LCD Monitor/Screen

1) Resolution The number of horizontal and vertical pixels in a display device. Eg: a monitor that has a 1440 x 900 resolution displays up to 1440 pixels per horizontal row and 900 per vertical row. Higher resolution used a greater number of pixels and provides a smoother, sharper and clearer image. 19 inch LCD monitor/screen has a resolution of 1440 x 900 while 22 inch has a resolution of 1680 x 1050. 2) Response Time LCD monitor/screen is the time in milliseconds (ms) that takes to turn a pixel on or off. LCD monitors/screens response time range from 3 to 16 ms. The lower number, the faster the response time.
Factors Affect the Quality of an LCD Monitor/Screen

3) Brightness Brightness of LCD monitor/screen is measured in nit. Nit is a unit of visible light intensity. LCD monitor/screen today range from 250 to 550 nits. The higher the nits the brighter the images.. 4) Dot pitch Also called pixel pitch, is the distance in millimeters between pixel on a display device. Text created with smaller dot pitch is easier to read. Average dot pitch on LCD monitors and screens should be 0.30 mm or lower. The lower number the sharper the image. 5) Contrast ratio Describes the difference in light intensity between the brightest white and darkest black that can be displayed on LCD monitor. Contrast ratio today range from 500:1 to 2000:1. Higher contrast ratio represents colors better.

Displays image by applying voltage to layer of gas

Larger screen size and richer colors than LCD, but are more expensive

What is a CRT monitor?
Contains cathode-ray tube (CRT) Screen coated with tiny dots of phosphor material
Each dot consists of a red, blue, and green phosphor
Common sizes are 15, 17, 19, 21, and 22 inches

Viewable size is diagonal measurement of actual viewing area

Output device that produces text and portrait graphics on a physical medium Result is hard copy, or printout Two orientations: portrait and landscape landscape

Generates images by pushing electrically heated pins against heat-sensitive paper
Dye-sublimation printer (also called a digital photo printer) uses heat to transfer dye to specially coated paper

Small, lightweight, battery-powered printer that allows mobile user to print from notebook computer, Tablet PC, smart phone, or other personal mobile device while traveling

Band printer prints fully formed characters using a hammer mechanism Shuttle-matrix printer is high-speed printer that works like dot-matrix printer

Modem that allows you to send and receive electronic documents as faxes

Provides functionality of printer, scanner, copy machine, and fax machine

What is a data projector? Device that takes text
and images from computer screen and projects them onto larger screen DLP projector LCD projector

What is an interactive whiteboard?
Touch-sensitive device that displays the image on a connected computer screen SMART board

What is force feedback?
Sends resistance to device in response to actions of user
