SUBMITTED BY:- AJAY MANOJ KUMAR PARDEEP SINGH ARUNDEEP

INTRODUCTION
School of Planning & Architecture, New Campus,

Vasant Kunj; Urban Design Competition: 30.04.09; The competition invited entries with creative urban design and development ideas which effectively and sensitively address the institutional objectives and requirements of SPA as an integrated, inter-related, holistic campus on one hand and the unique demands of the site, its location in the city on the other.

WHY WE NEED SPA ?

Shelter is one among the most important requirements of

our existence. From ancient times, architecture has been playing an integral role in the lives of human beings. Many historical societies is still remembered and studied, following the structures left behind. The work of an architect affects our daily lives in many ways. With growing complexity, population, environmental concerns, architecture is emerging as a bright career in various fields which are as follows: Architecture Landscape Architecture, Interior design, Civil engineering, Building construction, Urban and industrial planning.

OBJECTIVES AND FUTURE PROSPECTIVES

The objective of constructing a SPA is to provide

interaction between today architecture and old architecture, for student of spa institute... Social, Mental, Physical development is need of the today arch. students are also proposed to be developed in SPA.

SITE: The SPA is proposed to be designed on a plot of

land measuring 80000 SQ.MTS OR 19.79 ACRES, in Vasant Kunj . The site is adjoining of THE GRAND HOTEL.
The site is largely Contour , partially filled up and

is sloping towards south end. The site is vacant and un encroached. There are lots of TREES & NATURAL FLORA & FAUNA.

DESIGN BRIEF
The design brief was to provide a fully care space for the architecture students who are living near and within the SPA Delhi. A space that provides recreation to the architects and make them strong in all ways under the same roof. Recreation in the form of small indoor games .and completely healthy space for architectural need.

WHERE IS SITE LOCATED:-

LANDMARKS ARROUND SITE: THE GRAND HOTEL NEW DELHI TERI UNIVERSITY DPS VASANT KUNJ KK BIRLA ACADEMY OF INDIA HERITAGE NELSON MENDELA ROAD. JNU.

KEY PLAN OF SITE:-

TOPOGRAPHY OF SITE: THE SITE IS contour OF

LAND. PROVIDING NO PROMINENT CATCHMEN ZONE DELHI FALL UNDER SESMIC ZONE IV , MAKING IT VULNERABLE TO MAJOR EARTH QUAKE. SITE IS ALLOCATED IN THE ZONE F-2 OF THE MASTER PLAN OF DELHI. SITUATED ON THE NORTH-WEST OF JNU.

CLIMATE CONDITION OF SITE

RAIN FALL WIND

The annual rainfall varies considerably from year to year. However, the maximum rainfall is experienced during the monsoon season, which reaches it's peak in the month of July. In fact, the monsoon period accounts for 75% of the annual rainfall in the district. On an average there are 24 days in a year with rainfall of 2.5 mm (or more) per day in district Sonepat.

During the monsoon, the sky is heavily clouded, and winds are strong in this period. Winds are generally light during the postmonsoon and winter months

CLIMATE CONDITION OF SITE

Climate is dry with hot TEMPERATURE

summer and a cold winter. The weather becomes milder during the monsoon (period July to September). The post-monsoon months October and November constitute a transition period, prior to the onset of winter

In winter season

temperature remain 5 degree Celsius to 22 degree Celsius. In summer season temperature remain 25 degree Celsius to 45 degree Celsius.

SITE FEATURE
All roads and streets adjoining to our site is made up by colloidal concrete. It is very economical as just the required quality of grout enough to fill in the voids in the coarse aggregate is used. It is noted that for 100 m cubic of colloidal concrete , only 2o kg of cement is required. And this concrete we also used in our site pathway . And its have long life. Our site is close to bus stand. Our site is just 3 km from sonepat main bus stand. And just 6.6 km from G.T KARNAL ROAD. OUR SITE HAVE 234.14 M. HT. FROM SEA LEVAL..

TEMPRATURE VARIATIONS

GREEN BUILDINGS CONCEPT

Our site have many types of trees and plants.

Buildings from a major component of the national

development. Building consume major part of energy in construction and maintenance, and the impact of urban services on the natural environment is of much higher order. Going GREEN means becoming more conscious about our roles and responsibilities for natural environment

GREEN BUILDING CONCEPT

Once the decision to build green has been made,

one of the first steps is remember some things WATER CONSERVATION ON SITE TREATMENT OF RAIN WATER MATERIAL AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT

GREEN BUILDING CONCEPT

Building a green building is not just a matter of

assembling a collection of the latest green technologies or materials. Rather , it is a process in which every elements of the design is related to site and site study. For example:interrelationship between the building site, location and orientation of the building and elements such as windows and external shading device have impaction the quantity of natural day light, and the path of sun.

EARTHQUAKE DETAIL FOR SITE

Our site lies in sonipat . And it is very important

to study earthquake for life of children's which comes in child day care center. And according to our site study sonipat and our site comes in IV zone. Earthquake is sudden , rapid shaking of the earth caused by the release of the energy stored in the rocks. Earthquake dont kill people but building do. So our design of child day care center must be according to earthquake design. We suppose to do design of child day care building , which is civic amenties(life-line) . And EQ can disturb us.

EARTHQUAKE DETAIL FOR SITE

According to seismic zone map of 1984 divided in

5 zones, but current map divided in four zone II, I, IV, and V. we lies in IV zone. MAGNITUDE:- magnitude is a quantitative measure of the actual size of earthquake. DETAILS OF EARTHQUAKE IN SONIPAT:1. 4 may 1997 (m=4.7) 2. 28 Aprail (m=4.1) And according to national earthquake depat. Magnitude 4-4.9 lies in light group. And magnitude 8 and above lies in major group.

ANALYSIS
Now we well understood that site study is very

important part for any purposed building. Because in site study we concentrate on all important aspects of site . We study sun path on site, temp., wind, rainfall, climate, earthquake, location of site, humidity, water level of site or many other part.
