The global indicator is shown in the fare rule display and the specific airline fares display. The indicator shows the direction of travel between the origin and destination. For instance, a fare can be published from San Francisco to Singapore with a global indicator of PA, for travel via the Pacific. A fare from Atlanta to Paris can have a global indicator of AT to specify travel via the Atlantic. Most fares have a single global indicator; however, multiple global indicators do exist.

Worldspan contains millions of fares for most city pairs worldwide. You can display fares using a variety of request options, including MoneySaver fares, specific airlines, specific regions, and Direct Access. The MoneySaver fares display provides a list of one-way and roundtrip fares for airlines participating in Worldspan. Fares are listed in lowest to highest order for the specified city pairs regardless of the fare basis code. The MoneySaver fares display assumes Normal and Excursion (NLX) fare types. If a date is not included in the fare quote request, Worldspan displays fares in effect for today. This is done because there is an EFF column.

IATA fares are identified with a YY airline code in an international fare display. Airlines who are members of the IATA agreement, rather than publishing their own fare, agree to the rules and restrictions in the generic fare. IATA fares can be displayed using the YY airline code.

Interline travel is more prevalent with international travel. The fare for an international trip is determined by the first international airline and its fare basis. If there are other airlines in the itinerary, do not assume the booking class is the same for all airlines.

NUC stands for Neutral Units of Construction. A NUC is a published value for fare construction purposes. In a fares display, international fares are shown in the currency of the country where travel begins. Since different currencies cannot be added together, trips involving more than one currency require fare construction in NUCs. The NUC amounts for each portion of a trip are added together to a get a total NUC amount. The total amount is then converted to the originating countrys currency to get the fare. Worldspan prices all international itineraries in NUCs, then converts to the originating countrys currency.

Worldspan fare rules provide immediate access to the data required to book, price, and ticket at the best available fare. Worldspans automated rules provide fares and rules simultaneously for any fare and rule filed with the Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCO). ATPCO transmits updates to domestic rules three times a day and international rules five times a day. Worldspan stores the complete rules text as filed by the airline but defaults to an abbreviated or Mini Rule display when accessed from the fares display. The Mini Rule provides a short, easy to read summary.
