The convocation was performed at Sree Gokulam Conventional Centre. Decorated in the theme of the the new logo colours, the convocation was a perfect ground to demonstrate the progressive attitude of NTTF. Mrs Pamela Anna Matthew, the Managing Director of O/E/N India Ltd., Kochi, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and Dr. Ramachandran Thekkedath, the Vice Chancellor, CVSAT was the Chief Guest. After the ceremonious lighting of the lamp and the invocation, the convocation procession was convened by Mr N. Reguraj, the Managing Director of NTTF and the certificates were presented to the students by Mr K Venugopal.

he new revamped look of NTTF was launched at the 47th Convocation held on 14th October, 2011 at Golden Jubilee Road, Kaloor, Ernakulam, Kochi. It gave a glimpse of NTTFs new style and look.

As many as 2275 students received their certificates and diplomas. Twelve students were awarded gold medals for being the 1st rankers in their respective courses. Five students were awarded silver medals for being 2nd in their courses and Mr Aravind A. (VTC) in the Tool and DieMaking course received the Foundation Merit Certificate.

ettur Technical Training Foundation is a name which doesnt need an introduction when it comes to top quality technical education especially as far as practical hands-on training is concerned with varied instruments and equipments. With a presence across the country in over 16 centres, it is a huge responsibility on NTTF to get all its students placed in the industries of their choice. All thanks to the legacy of reputation built over the past half a century and the strong networking of its alumni across the world, NTTF has again kept its promise of 95+% placements assistance and the support for sustainable entrepreneurship through mentorship. Placement in the year 2011-2012: The economy was in a downturn in the year 2011-2012 and most of the top ranked institutes struggled to place their students. However, NTTF excelled even in these difficult times by placing more than 96% of its students from various courses. Packages Offered in year 2011: The highest package offered to the students was ` 4 Lakhs per annum. The median of the range of the packages offered by the companies to the students was around ` 2- 2.5 Lakhs per annum. The highest packages were offered by companies like Intel, TATA Steel, TATA Motors, Analog Device, Sanmina, L&T Infotech, Telcon, Apollo Tyres Ltd and Nokia Siemens Networks to name a few.

We should never forget that placements are just a hopping platform to ultimately fly high. Mentors Speak: Voice of the Faculty

some of our alumni revisit our campus as interviewers for recruiting students from new batches. He also feels that over the years that the overall level of commitment and dexterity of the students in general has deteriorated everywhere. He feels that students want a Fast Food Life wherein everything can be obtained without much toil. The main reason according to him could be the lack of time that parents have for their children and the rising demands of competitiveness which has made people more impatient. He believes, If parents pay good attention to the growth of their children and do not pressurize them by being concerned only about results then the students would probably develop in a better manner. Finally he had just one simple expectation from his students that they have dedication, self-motivation and hard work deeply rooted in them. But before any of these they should have an urge to become a good human being exhibiting all the moral values that the institute has embedded in them. Mr G. Jaya Kumar who is Assistant Manager, Training, in the computer science department as well as a faculty member feels that there are a huge lot of distractions present in todays world that makes the students lose their focus. All the technological gadgets are in your own hands and we do not deny its usage. But one should not be carried away by it,he said. A young member from the faculty, Mr Arun Kumar (Electronics Department) associated with NTTF for the past 3 years confesses that nowadays the focus has shifted from education to placements with the increasing expectation and competition for employment. But he cheers up his students saying, Try not to stop your pursuit of success once you make it to NTTF because at the end of the day it is you who shapes your career. And yes, do enjoy your stay here!

Big Stones: A thought-provoking short story

With his thoughts on the lecture topic, one of the managers quickly replied, We learn that as full as our schedules may appear, if we only increase our effort, it is always possible to add more meetings and tasks. No, replied the professor. The great truth that we can conclude from this experiment is:

ne day, an old professor of the School of Public Management in France, was invited to deliver a lecture on Efficient Time Management. The audience was a group of 15 executive managers from the most successful companies in America. The lecture was one in a series of 5 lectures conducted in one day, and the old professor was given 1 hour to speak. The professor saw them poised with their pens to jot down any word that he would speak. He walked to each one of them and looked into their eyes and said, Today we are going to conduct an experiment. The professor then pulled out a big glass jar from under the table and gently placed it on the table in front of him. Next, he pulled out from under the table a bag of stones, each of the size of a tennis ball, and placed the stones in the jar one at a time. He did so until there was no room to add another stone in the jar. Gazing at the managers, the professor asked, Is the jar full? The managers replied, Yes. The professor paused for a moment, and replied, Really?

Once again, he reached under the table and pulled out a bag full of pebbles. Carefully, the professor poured the pebbles in and slightly rattled the jar, allowing the pebbles to slip through the larger stones, until they settled at the bottom. Again, the professor gazed at his audience and asked, Is the jar full? At this point, the managers had begun to understand his intentions. One replied, Apparently not! Correct, replied the old professor. Now pulling out a bag of sand from under the table; cautiously, he poured the sand into the jar. The sand filled up the spaces between the stones and the pebbles. Yet again, the professor asked, Is the jar full? Without hesitation, the entire group of students replied in unison, NO! Correct, replied the professor. And as was expected by the students, the professor reached for the pitcher of water that was on the table, and poured water in the jar until it was absolutely full. The professor now asked once again, What great truth can we surmise from this experiment?

If we dont put all the larger stones in the jar first, we will never be able to fit all of them later. The auditorium fell silent, as every manager processed the significance of the professors words in their entirety. The old professor continued, What are the large stones in your life? Health? Family? Friends? Your goals? Doing what you love? Fighting for a Cause? Taking time for you? What we must remember is that it is most important to include the lager stones in our lives, because if we dont do so, we are likely to miss out on life altogether. If we give priority to the smaller things in life (pebbles & sand), our lives will be filled up with less important things, leaving little or no time for the things in our lives that are most important to us. Thus, never forget to ask yourself, What are the Large Stones of your Life? And once you identify them, be sure to put them first in your Jar of Life. With a warm wave of his hand, the professor bid farewell to the managers, and slowly walked out of the room.

NETFEST 2012 BTC Annual Day function -NETFEST 2012 was celebrated with pomp & gaiety and with lots of enthusiasm shown by students and staff alike on 11th of February 2012. Mr. L Krishnan, MD of M/s. Taegu Tec India Pvt. Ltd., graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Mr. G Sridhar, GM M/s. Liebherr Machine Tools India was the guest of honour. The function was presided over by our beloved MD Mr. N Reguraj and Director & COO-NTTF Mr. K. Venugopal. The unveiling of the new NTTF Logo was launched in a grand manner. Starting this year an Excellence award is instituted and given to the 1st three rank holders of BTC. The award was instituted by the NTTF BTC 81-85 batch students in Memory of BTC staff, late Mr. Rasheed Ahmed. Nostalgic moments were recalled in the golden years of services rendered by Mr. Rajagopalan, Director - Finance, Ms Freeda M Executive Secretary to MD and other long serving staffs in the form of Service awards.

Awards & Recognitions Mr. Prasant. P. of 2010 - 2012 batch PGPDE student received a Gold Medal in the 42nd All India Student Design Competition - 2011 in Mechanical Engineering discipline organized by The Institution of Engineers (India) and National Design and Research Forum held during 19th IEI Convocation and Technicians/Students Convention at Institution of Engineers (India), Jharkhand State Centre, Ranchi.

GTC (Gannavaram Training Centre)

NTTF New Logo launch & Annual Day celebrations were held on 10th March12. Chief Guest Mr. Y. Prasad of IEI and Mr. Stephen Louis, Associate Director, NTTF presided over the function. During the day, the Electrical & Electronics Lab, Dining Hall and Library facilities were inaugurated by Mr. Stephen Louis. Inaugural Function for the Training Program for the fresh ITI trainees of M/s. Indian Rayon was conducted on 13th Feb.12. Mr. R.P.Tiwari, DGM along with Mr. Abhilash Nair, Officer from M/s. Indian Rayon were present for the function. SPORTS DAY was conducted on 15th February12. Mr. Y.Srinivas & Mr. B.Avinash, Final year Diploma in Tool & Die Making trainees bagged 1st Prize in the National level Paper presentation competition CREAT-2012 conducted by Murugappa Polytechnic College, Chennai on 24th Feb.12, for their Paper submitted on DEVELOPMENT IN TOOLING MATERIALS. Safety Week was conducted from 2nd to 7th March12.

Village Camp Tool and Die Making Second year trainees went to Agaligrama Panchayat in Attapadi at Palakkad District in Kerala for village camp from 26th to 31st March 2012. They interacted with villagers, village panchayat and dedicated themselves in cleaning up the area. As part of social service activities trainees made steps through the mountains to make it convenient for the student and villagers to reach the school on the mountain and also they painted the kitchen of the school etc. Sports Day GNTC celebrated Sports day on March 8th of this year. Brand Day and Christmas Celebration GNTC celebrated brand day for launching of new NTTF logo along with Christmas function on 8th Dec 2011. Republic Day GNTC Celebrated Republic Day on 26th Jan 2012. Mr. Ashik K N - Deputy Manager hoisted national flag. Mr. Gibson. M, Principal- GNTC delivered the Republic Day message. Health Check Up As a part of staff welfare activity, a general medical check up was arranged for GNTC Staff on 20th March 2012. Farewell Conducted farewell for Mr R. Premodha Leonarld (STO) on 31st March 2012. He worked in our organisation above five years.

VTC (Vellore Training Centre)

Safety Week: The safety week was celebrated in NTTF- VTC from 27th March 2012 to 31st March 2012. As in the previous years many competitions were held in connection with the Safety week celebrations. The following competitions were held: Safety Slogan, Safety Carton & Safety speech. Winners were given the prizes. Every day there was a speech by Principal, Staff and Trainees on Safety. Arts & Sports Meet : The Arts and Sports competitions were held in VTC. (10th March 2012 to 20th March 2012). Various Competitions like Indoor and Outdoor games were conducted for Sports and different competitions were conducted for the Arts. The winners will be given the prizes on the Annual day function New Machines : VTC received two Milling machines, one Band saw and three Drilling Machines at the end of February 2012. Machines were installed and operations were started.

Vocational Training at NTTF OPJC.(JSW) Existing Two one year vocational Certificate Training Programs (Mechanical and Electrical) compiled as one and renamed as Certificate Program in Plant Operation and Maintenance. The new one year certificate Program will commence from 20th April 2012. National Safety Day Celebrations at NTTF OPJC. 100 NTTF Trainees participated in Safety Procession organised by JSW Steels Ltd. on 6th April 2012 in connection with National Safety Day. National Safety Day was celebrated at NTTF OPJC on 13th April 2012. Dr. S.S. Gupta, Director JSW Foundation was Chief Guest. Mr. K. S. Muthuramalingam, Unit Head addressed the gathering on Safety Awareness. NTTF trainees participated in Safety Drama, Safety Quiz and Safety Slogan.

New College: Kerala Government has selected NTTF as the incubating agency for running community college at Wadakanchery, Palakkad, for SC/ST Department, which was formally inaugurated on 18th February 2012. VVIP Visit at BTC

he 8th of March 2012 was a special day for the Bangalore training centre. The centre was visited by VVIP Mr. S Ramadorai, Advisor to the Prime Minister of India on Skill Development & Vice Chairman of TCS & Mr. M.V. Subbiah, Chairman-NSDC. They were taken around the training centre and shown the training materials and student projects. They interacted with students and staff to understand the training methodology. The VIPs were impressed by the NTTF training activities and overall gave a very positive feedback on the training.
